Yes a Raven is not the fasted Lvl 4 runner but it is the fasted to train up to. It is pretty much the EVE standard for Level 4 Missions.
Common Low Skill Fit Mission Fit
6x Meta 3-4 Cruise Missile Launchers
1x X-Large Sheild Booster 1x Sheild Boost Amp 3x Mission Specific Hardeners 1x Capbooster
1x Damage Control Unit 3x Balistic Control System II 1x Powergrid or CPU Mod if your short or another BCU II
Rigs
0-1x EM Rig 2-3x CCC Rig
Drones
5x Hobgoblins 5x Hammerheads
I would suggest the EM Rig if you mission for Amarr. Carry around 12, 800 Capboost Charges to provide a boost to your cap to run your XL Sheild Boost Longer.
Before you do level 4's work towards having these skills
Cruise Missiles 3(Three at Least) Rapid Launch 3-4(More DPS means less worry about tank) Caldari Battleship 3-4(Three at Least) Guided Missile and Taget Nav 3(Accuracy for smaller ships) Missile Bombardment 3 Tactical Sheild Minipulation 4(Tech 2 Hardeners) Engineering 4 Electronics 4 Energy Systems OP 3-4 Energy Management 3-4 Drones 5(Want it to take care of Tackle) Drone Interfacing 3(Boosts Drone Dmg) Weapons Upgrade 4(Very Important T2 BCU is a huge boost) Hull Upgrades 4 (Damage Control 2)
This is a rough list of skills and having them near this will do, prioritize the quicker ones first while you test out lower level missions.
This Site has Rat Resists.
Mission and Dead Space are Mission Rats, Asteroid is Belt Rats
And this one Mission Guides
Has a report for each mission telling you what to expect.
Good Luck.

Edited by: Von Kroll on 30/11/2010 16:39:26 This is what I use--a variation of Merin's original fit. With decent drone skills, you almost don't need the medium drones because the rigors let you hit cruisers and up pretty hard. The afterburner will help you kite or cross distances to gates faster, plus will mitigate a lot of the missile damage you take. If you don't have anywhere to go, just orbit an object on the field with the AB on. Pulse the shield booster only when your shields get below 30-40% and only pulse it long enough to get it back up to 45-50% or so. Use the cap booster in a similar manner--only pulse it long enough to get keep your cap between 30-50% (maybe one or two cycles from 30%). I use 4 BCU to maximize firepower. The PDU helps you stay cap positive, plus gives you a little extra shield buffer. Some folks will use a DC as you can see. The 5th low slot mod is a choice of these. T2 Cruise missiles aren't cost effective from a training standpoint, unless you've got a million other more important skills already trained. Get Guided Missile Precision and Target Navigation Prediction skills up to IV as soon as you can.

I run with the following:
High 6x 'Arbalest' Cruise Launcher I (Cataclysm Cruise Missile) Drone Link Augmentor I
Med Domination X-Large Shield Booster 2x Photon Scattering Field II Heat Dissipation Field II Shield Boost Amplifier II Invulnerability Field II
Low Damage Control II 3x Power Diagnostic System II Ballistic Control System II
Rig 2x Large Core Defence Field Extender I Large Bay Loading Accelerator I
My build is a bit lower on DPS but higher on tank as I partner with a Maelstrom that is fitted for DPS. You can run solo with what I have it just takes a bit longer. Swap the 4th hardener for a Cap Booster and carry some refills, that's what I did before I got the Mael.
The raven is fairly versatile depending on what you want it to do. Swap out BCS for PDS to increase tank or vice versa for damage. Target painter for added dps or take hardener/cap booster to extend tank. Several different options depending on your playstyle.

I've tried many of the common lvl 4 mission raven fits and found this one to work the best all around. I'd use rat specific hardeners and maybe a target painter for popping cruisers quickly but whatever. Start with that.

and thank you all for good replies. I think I'll use the last fitting mentioned. It seems good enough.
