I don't know about him in particular, but we seem to manage pretty well. Just like Romanians, Japanese, and all the other minorities in the game.
And OMFG. Real Madrid got ****ing owned, pretty hard. I should be sorry for my friends, all of them inconditional Madrid fans, but honestly I don't give a damn about football anymore.
We are saturated. There are games every single day, and they devote more information to it than to the economy which is about to send our country straight into Third World status.

Spaniard from Madrid here... I don't really follow football but yeah everyone seems to be feeling rather down today =P.
And I agree with Darius completely. Then again, I don't think the demographic this game aims for coincides with football-enjoying people.

Interesting ... I can barely speak english at all, yet I enjoy EVE too, and yes, I think that is more of a Corollary, since ANYONE that plays eve and enjoys it is not a representative of the regular Xbox-Ps3-Wii user crowd, and even the regular tf2/mw2/starcraft/wow crowd.
It takes a special type of mind to actually enjoy the endless spreadsheets and slow-mo pew pew in space

I'm in Barcelona and I'm a Spaniard, just like this dude. He can consider himself Catalonian, Klingon or of Ewok ancestry for all I care. It's not a Catalonian ID card he has to pull when using his credit card.

Also, i mentioned the 'no localisation' thing because it was an option to put towards the CSM. I was suprised that there isnt a spanish client where there are clients for other nationalities.

I'm a Spaniard and frankly I always set my software to use English whenever I possibly can, simply because the translations are usually atrocious.
An ex-gf once got a gig translating a videogame into Spanish, and the way they did it was giving her a list of all the phrases, terms and paragraphs to be translated, but without any context whatsoever - which helps explain why often the translations make no sense at all. Such as when I once saw a "View Log" menu translated into the Spanish equivalent for "View Tree Trunk".
But then, I can only speak for myself, as it is true that in Spain the general level of English is quite poor - as opposed to say, the Netherlands, where everyone is seemingly fluent in English.

We do understand and get by, but usually have trouble with speaking it fluently. This is because of several factors:
1) Spanish is much more different from English than other languages like Dutch or German. Spaniards, for instance, truly excel at Japanese pronunciation and fluency because of the same thing.
2) Spain has everything translated and dubbed. Very rarely you get a chance to see a show or movie in English, and when you do, it's on cable and late at night.
3) Spain has a truly atrocious educational system compared to most civilized European countries, and frankly, we leave school with a much smaller grasp on languages than our European peers. At least, than those from places like Scandinavia, Germany, Belgium or the Netherlands.
This said, it's obvious that most, or at least, many people in Spain does understand what they're told in English. We are a tourist-attracting country and would like to continue being so, after all.
I actually like my games in English because I find most translations lacking, which is only to be expected. For the same reason, I tend to buy my books in English when able to.
But more Spaniards would be attracted to the game if it was in Spanish, though, because ALL our videogames are translated and most of them even dubbed. People in Spain EXPECTS and DEMANDS games in Spanish.

CCP has precise data of the number of accounts per nationality, and EVE ONLINE is not at all popular in Spain, where World of Warcraft trumps all oposition.
In fact, I think I read somewhere that there are more Romanians than Spaniards playing EVE. Being fair, Romania should get their translated client before us

I feel your pain. My uncle happens to be a quite known spanish actor (Tito Valverde from El Comisario among others) and he was quite ****ed off because he had to do the voice acting for the videogame Heavy Rain following that exact method.
Also, remember Final Fantasy VII, where "How cool" got translated as "Que frfo" (spanish for "it's cold"), and that's a small example...

I read the news this morning and I was like "WHOA!!!" when I saw the 5-0 that Mourinho suffered.
FYI, this is almost comparable to the last season where he trained FC Porto, and won eeeeeeeverything, xcept the Portugal cup, where Benfica defeated him.

Interestingly enough, I do the same for the exact same reasons as you have presented.
I'm from latinamerica, Venezuela to be precise, currently living in Panama in exile, and there are some things to point out.
We are used to seeing all movies with SUBTITLES, to the point I never really noticed until the moment when some friends from Spain were with me in the Cinema and left during the first 15 minutes because they said it was awful for them having to read subs and see the movie ... I was WTF? ... Then it hit me I'm used to seeing/reading everything in movies, people from Spain not.
Dubbed movies have absolutely flat-non cohesive dialogues and it's very rare for me to hear a movie dubbed to spanish that sounds as good as the original english version in terms of emotional meaning/context. As an inside joke in my old rpg group we used to recite Lord of the rings movie quotes with fake Spain Accents only to point out the very same feeling of disconnection we sense when we see movies/comics/rpg material translated into spanish.
We had a strange joke, regarding the skill APPRAISAL, when one of my players discovered my 3rd edition D&D PHB in Spanish wich I bought on a trip there, since I love the country and have some friends there.
When he tried to look for the skill spanish name, he came up with "TASACION" ... we were all simply in shock due to the LULZ every time he wanted to use "TASACION", making emphasis on the S like a Z
It's mostly a latinamerican issue for us, since the Spain accent is so recognizable and consonant.
Then on the other hand, you have the crap Latinamerican flat-soulless dubs, that for some strange reason, they even place into movies from other parts of Latinamerica, like from Argentina for example, which is to me the pinnacle of absurdity. I can understand pretty much what people from Argentina say, thank you, no need to dub them ARGHH! and ruin the whole movie. Or Movies from Chile, they speak SPANISH, even if it sounds strange in their accents yes they do. It's like having movies from England dubbed into "American english". WTF?
Honestly, thats why I love English. I speak spanish/think in spanish, but when I want to see something I'd rather see it in the Original language.
But don't think I'm praising American English, I like my french movies in original french with subs too. Nothing like the original language.
French movies in my experience lose 60% of the meaning when dubbed into english, specially if you understand the phonetics and the strange french only humor in them, which is totally lost in translation to english or spanish.
But I must admit some people simply want to hear and thats it, but me? Original German/French/English/Spanish/japanese with subs.
Also, I believe that english is no longer a North American language, but an international trade language, the lingua franca of the 21st century. If you not into it, you simply not up to the needs of the modern world.

Holy crap, Tito Valverde is your uncle? Really? I loved that series, and also his comedy roles all these years. One of the most respected actors in Spain for sure.

Well, there are exceptions. I precisely know the lead Spanish localisation project manager for Starcraft II (he's a Basque philologist, who worked for Square Enix and Nintendo before being recruited into Blizzard and moving to France) and his work is AMAZING.
First and foremost, because he is also an avid videogame player and understands what's going on.

Hardly; for it to be a good comparison Real Madrid would have to be up with a chance of silverware, which season they are not.
Also your sentence makes it sound like Mourinho was at Benfica 'last season', which is false, he was at Inter Milan and won 3 honors.

Last year I went to Barcelona to try and live as homeless there. Well I thought I would choose a sunny location. To escape the base villainy of a housing association I was living in at the time. They was supposed to be about providing supported accommodation for people with mental health issues. But they was primarily interested in making money above all.
I spent 3 days in Barcelona but I did not like living on the streets so I went back to England. During that short stay I got propositioned by a dirty hooker who I suspect wanted to rip me off.
