Ok so I've tried out pirating in the past, I've got about 6mil SP atm. I really really want to hunt down vulnerable miners, and plex runners out in low/null sec. However every-time I tried finding them, they were pretty much non existent. Could never find them. I would roam for hours, and maybe only find the occasional ratter, which was 99% of the time just bait.
Would the best approach for this type of piracy require a cloaking device? Maybe a Stealth Bomber would be best suited for this? I'm thinking if I'm not stealth-ed from the get go, these juicy targets are catching me on scanner soon as I enter local, then high tail it to their little safe spots.
Just looking for some good tactics here. Any advice would be most welcome. :)
Thanks.

Find a lowsec pipe between two hisec areas. And wait for the autopiloting haulers.

Try camping the Torrinos/EC gate, on the EC side.
I hear it's got some traffic in and out from time to time

I did an escalation in EC before. So EC has both those easy to kill ratters, and haulers in there.

Edited by: Scharf Secundus on 02/12/2010 09:27:57 Wormhole space (C1-3s) has plenty of lazy/careless miners and plexers. Is do-able solo but you will miss a lot through being seen on D-Scan or landing out of tackle range.Cov. cloak fitted alt is ideal for getting warp in. Is possibile to catch the really careless using 1 account-find victim with cov.ops-leave system-come back in combat boat-warp to BM. Lots of ways to go about it and a lot can happen to make them flee-but you will be amazed at how complacent many are. No Local ftw. Oh yeah...be prepared to go against passive Drakes

Eddie, I like your sister, Shyla. Suggestion: Remove the "new topic" button from everywhere apart from the list of topics section within a subforum.
That'd save those with chronic hand/eye coordination some face. |

large scale pvp? its the only pvp there is. Small gang is on its last legs and it wont survive the winter.
Join FW, they wont undock unless they have a 20 man gang with them.

If you really want 'large scale PvP' you need to join a large alliance. Many will have a blanket ban on players with less than 10/15/20m SP. However, players with some PvP sense are can be useful in a fleet even if the character has lowe skills.
To convince them of this you need to do some solo / small scale PvP. Again, the best place for this is within a pirate or FW corporation or RVB. If you really want to go solo, fit out a lot of cheap ships rifter / thrasher / rupture are some of the best but perhaps hawk / caracal would work. Go cruising in low sec and 0.0 and pick fights.
Finally, small scale PvP is much more fun that large scale.

Thanks.
Red vs Blue, as mentioned above, is a "safe bet" where PvP action is concerned. Factional warfare offers a wider spectrum of playstyles and (potentially) bigger fleet fights. There are a number of fw corps taking part in different sorts of PvP activities. Not going to name any but draketrain here cause I do not wish to promote anyone else's cause here ;)
RvB is an easy choice also cause you wouldn't have to worry about time zone issues, but if you look for a fw corp active in your tz, you should be able to get into more versatile PvP situations (and fw is lucrative if you have the stomach for PvE which I, unfortunately, don't). draketrain is mostly EU tz, but us/aussie tz folks are more than welcome to join.
Hope you find the PvP you are looking for o/ ---- sig sans sense |
