I've read most of the threads about POS construction (some good ones out there). I appreciate everyone posting their experiences.
I've got some questions on T2 component manufacturing using POS.
I know there are "reactions" and "complex reactions" but I'm not really sure what it all means and how it fits together. I know you mine a moon for an item, and have to combine that item with others in a "reaction" to get another item, but then what? More reactions? Build? How does it work exactly so you end up with T2 building materials?
If someone with experience could lay out in laymans terms how you get from having a POS around a moon to getting T2 building components I'd appreciate it.
Thanks,
Archbishop

One other thing. If anyone has made a nice chart or webpage of Reactions and Materials I'd really like to see it. If you know of one please post a link.

Edited by: Del Todesengel on 13/01/2005 02:02:36 order is :
Moon Mining, Simple Reaction (using moon material), complex reaction (using ismple reaction), Tech2 comp at a NORMAL FACTORY (using complex reaction), tech2 item/ship (using tech2 comp)
here's a datasheet i found on those forums, i forgot who made it, sry for whoever concerned, just keep in mind that i didnt done it myself

Thanks Del thats great!!!! So to confirm it takes a couple different moon mining raw materials to do the simple reaction. Then it takes a couple different types of simple reaction results to do the complex reaction.
A friend of mine evemailed me this URL with a nice chart on it as well if anyone is interested.
COMPONENT MANUFACTURING TREE
It says below Jona Mae designed it for GLT. Thank you whoever you are.
Sounds like you'd need 7-10 POS just to get the "train" going unless you work out trade agreements for moon mining materials.

that sheet is good but W16 on the base moon tab should read =SUM((L17*L21);(O17*O21)) not =SUM((L17*L21);(N17*N21))

Edited by: Lagartija Nick on 13/01/2005 07:28:53 Thats exactly it Archbishop. We haven't put Dire's starbase up yet, but we have already been talking to people to try to sell a simple reaction that our target moon produces. So far I can say that people have been fairly receptive about cooperating on the chain, rather then trying to go it alone.
The more of us that bite the bullet in the beginning to get these chains going on the market, the easier it's going to be to run these towers. Basically, alot of handshakes are going to be involved to pull it off.
It's actually kind of a nice change of pace for eve.

That may be the future of it all Lagartija Nick. Something like a cartel of moon mining materials. A business partnership of sorts. Only the largest cartels could hope to have the 15-20 POS it would probably take to complete a "train" and produce the component material.

We need a directory of public producers of materials so we all know who is making what and who we need to talk to in order to get things done.

You know, my friends, we already have a nice small network of producers in empire space. So the cartel idea is not exactly new. :-)
We currently harvest Thulium, Hafnium, Cadmium, Caesium and a number of basic moon minerals, and running different reactions, mainly Vanadium Hafnite and Caesarium Cadmide. We also have scan results for moons with Platinum, Chromium, Vanadium, Scandium and a few others just waiting to be exploited.
The problem is still the fact that agent runners can afford to sell t2 components at ridiculous prices, making it very hard just to break even. And that is already counting in every trick in the book to reduce the number of reactors (and thereby stations) needed for the reactions.
If anyone is interested in working together, contact me. We have out of game boards dedicated to this purpose. Within the cartel, everyone has equal rights, so why not use the infrastructure we already built instead of founding a completely new one?

Well, the nuts and bolts of what I've been doing is that I'm trying to get enough people using the market at a single location for materials that one can reliably unload their surplus and also obtain others they need. Drop by if you have some surplus. -D
