Should CCP sharpen the line between what is meant for pirates and what is meant for everyone else? Should NPC 0.0 aka pirate faction space be improved/changed so that pirates actually live there, instead of being held by big 0.0 alliances? Will being flashy red ever be worth more than an intimidating box on our overview?
I think eve would be better off if there was a real reason for that 2 day old newb to tear off that caldari navy insignia patch to take his merlin and venture deep into the dark recesses of space, and to come out with hair on his chest and a big honkin eyepatch.
Pirates and their unending thirst for blood is what gives eve its action(lol) and adventure. Maybe the devs should stop treating them like second class citizens.
I am tired of seeing players with 5.0 sec status flying pirate battleships!! raaaagggeee

I don't consider any Achura to be a pirate. I mean, LOOK at one.

making pirate faction ships only available to people that have high sec to corresponding pirate corp would make alot of sense. But that would be something that should have been done at the start. We could implement that easily. But I think the stream of emo tears would be so immense forums would crash due to being underwater. ------------------------------------------------- "Vae Victis" -Brennus |

Sounds reasonable, you could do the same for docking. Obviously same other way arround, both sec status above 0 and positive faction standings required to both dock in an empire station and to use empire faction ships.

er... why?
*looks through his man draw of unknown batteries, old screwdrivers, old wiring and random manuals for things he no longer owns*
ah here it is!
My limited edition ball point pen. (don't ask). This in fact wasn't given to me by the company, but a loyal employee, who later died; his wife needed the money and thus I bought the pen from her (it was more of a, look here's some money but I don't want to make it obvious I'm helping you so I'll buy something from you for a silly amount).
Just because the pen wasn't "destined" for me in the first place, doesn't mean I can't use it.
Same goes for Pirate ships. If those PIRATES want to sell their ships after earning them for much iskies then they can, and us "carebears" will happily buy 'em. Nothing wrong with that.

Your right, of course there would have to be major redesigns in the system for that idea to even be relevant. However in the vast majority of the cases it was a high sec status carebear missioning for the pirate ship to sell to other carebears in empire. Which I think is just CCP's way of kicking us yarrbears in the nuts.
PS. I like the needing negative sec status to dock in npc 0.0 stations idea, I also think it should correspond to how high a level mission you can grab from those agents.

You could always find a way to restrict Pirate production:
Make the ships incapable of being built: i.e. no blueprints. This means the only way to get the ship is by actually being involved with the pirate factions. Value of ships goes up, supply goes down, yarrbears have an ace in the hole for isk if they want it.
Now if you go that road, you'd need to do the same to standard faction ships: drop BP's, make them only accessible to people who wrack up enough LP to buy them. For navy ships that isn't tough at all given mission runners, but you could always move these ships to STRICTLY being available to Faction Warfare: bam, FW now has a lucrative option IF you join it and actively work in it.
This doesn't mean the ships are unavailable to non-pirates/militia...it means they are much more controlled in supply. Faction ships are pretty nice, but this would be a huge change and the ships would likely need a buff to make them worth the inherent increase in price. i.e., make faction ships better than Assault Ships, Heavy Assault Ships. As it is there are no T2 battleships for PvP (unless Black Ops get fixed up some) faction BS's are your top-of-the-line BS's for PvP, so why not make faction ships THE ships for PvP - rewarding people who engage in PvP as a profession...like they were meant to originally. |
