First time I've picked up this mish. I've heard horror stories about this one. Anything to worry about or am I just being paranoid?

except for fact that it takes ages to complete, it is quite easy; only danger comes from optional room which requires angel diamond tag to access - ton of ships in there that hit quite hard (but nothing that well tanked drake cannot handle, be careful if you plan on going in there with raven)

Thank you. I fly a domi, so no raven there =). My tank has never let me down before, I just wanted to make sure I would be fine going in. 99% of my dps is from drones so I am assuming for a long mission that would make this mish that much longer.

One of the best missions out there because the triggers are battleships, so leave all the frigates till last if you're confident. Make sure you read Eve Survival and know what triggers what and you'll be fine.
Guristas Extravaganza which I seem to get a lot more is the same as Angels but 10x more annoying. Frigates are triggers so endless dropping and returning drones.
When AE comes up, celebrate!

I once did AE3 in a Slicer That's an hour and a half of my life I'm never getting back. I think that's also when I resolved to never fight Angels in a laser ship again.

if you are flying a shield tanked ship, its just a matter of killing everything except for the "bonus room", the bonus room is unsolo-able unless you have an obscene pimp fit ship, everything else is just a matter of not repeatedly shooting the trigger. the one problem is an elite cruiser in one of the rooms that will take ages to kill unless you have a web. one of the few missions I have ever done that needed a web

That is indeed definitely a while... however AE is one thing you can do for amusement in all sorts of ships. I've attempted it in a Rifter at one point with some success, only I got thoroughly bored at the kill speed & gave up before the end. Tanking it in a Rifter while someone kills in a SB is much more amusing.
AE is open for MWDs, not a bad idea to fit one either.
Angel bonus room isn't a lot of fun for an armour tanker, you can do it in a T2 fit mael though.

AE is IMO the best mission in the game. Drops loads of loot and cash. Just a couple things:
1) After the first 2-3 rooms take a break to salvage the first two rooms. If you solo in a low-SP fit you may find the mission taking you enough time that the wrecks in the first few rooms actually disappear (if you have an alt salvaging/looting while you run, then don't take a break :D).
2) Don't bother with the Bonus Room unless you have a serious, serious tank. Seriously - the AE bonus room is the environment other than Worlds Collide 5 to test your tank in.

its a long time since ive flown a domi. still the cheap fitting below should give you an idea on what you could go for, if your not sure with the last room of that mission. it is not my recommendation for a domi fit in general, but should give you plenty of tank to take it slow and check the mission out. if your not using sentries, loos the omni for another cap recharger and flux for a dcu (yes with so many hardeners already a dcu without stacking penalties gives you more resists) to even further your tank.
with heavy dps (mael, varg, mach, golem) you barely need a 400dps angel specific tank for the last room though. so try that when you have become comfortable with the mission.

AE is both one of the worst lvl 4 mission and one the best. If you like to take missions slowly, you can just look up triggers and kill them group by group. the rewards are excellent, you always get a hardwiring implant from the 4th room, and theres worse loot then angels if you like to blitz missions AE is dreadfull. it has seperate rooms, all with small groups of ships, even shooting all triggers at once and then cleaning up takes a lot of time. the 3rd room has a lot of turrets that you can either leave or destroy. if you leave them, you cant salvage behind you becouse the towers will **** your dessy (didnt try with noctis yet).
i really dislike it
ps: bonus room isnt all that hard. when you know your ship and what its capable off, you should easily be able to know if youll make it

My skills suck out loud and I do it on about 45 min with a Tengu (including the bonus room). So...yeah, I'd call that an upper bound.

My tactic for bonus room is to warp in in a Cynabal, head away from everything right away with AB on...warp in alt and kill towers first. When theres only BS's left, I come back with Cynabal to wipe them out.

take the dessy warp in and use the gate, has worked for me. A) the towers deal almost no damage and B) you land aligned for the next gate, worst case scenario you have to fly a km or two, which with a dessy and afterburner takes almost no time. oh and C) you can always bookmark the rooms as you go turn in the mission and then come back to salvage.

All I had to do was to fit a 150k cost shield on an arty Mael, warp in that room, AB away off the launchers while firing the cruise launchers. Finish and loot all.
Edit: don't try this in your 2M SP new mission alt. - Auditing & consulting

I do this mission in a Dominix with sentry drones, light drones and medium drones.

Honestly, you can probably drop the second rep as I don't even really need it I just have it there for insurance. Considering how cheap this ship is though maybe a magstab would be better. SCHALAC HAS SPOKEN |

Wow, I didn't expect so many replies. Thank you =)
My domi is pretty basic.
Highs are 5x Dual 250mm Prototype Gauss Gun and a DLA
Meds are 5x Cap recharger IIs
My lows are 2 LAR-IIs, 4x Mish specific hardener II's, and an EANM II
Rigs are 3x CCC.
Drones are mission specific. I usually keep a broad supply of them around at all times. I can use T2 lights and mediums. Still have a ways to go for T2 bouncers and I am less than 2 days away from T1 sentries. My tank is pretty solid, not much for me to worry about. Only a couple missions I've needed to warp out of, and those were due to my mistakes.
I've got 4.2mil sp right now. Not much at all, but it gets the job done for what I'm doing =P

Edited by: T''Challa Wanakanda on 03/12/2010 04:35:08 The bonus room can be done solo with this fit. The key is to: 1) As soon as you land in the bonus room turn around 180 degrees and use your afterburner to keep range on the incoming BS/BC. As long as you can keep them 50km+ away your tank will hold. 2) As soon as you land in the bonus room use Warrior IIs AND your medium railguns to kill the frigates that will otherwise warp scramble &/or web you. You should be able to kill them before they get into range to web you. If not you may likely lose your ship 3) After the frigates are dead launch heavy drones to kill BCs starting with the closest. 4) After a while before you reach 140km from the furthest sentry tower start to orbit the furthest tower instead of powering away. If you get further than 150km from a tower it will stop shooting you and start shooting your drones...and they will die before you can recall them.
If you're drone, capacitor, & repair skills are good enough you will be able to tank the remaining damage and can stop running away. Be careful not to trigger the BS spawn until you have killed most/all of the other rats.

PS: Because it does not suffer from stacking penalties a damage control is actually better than an EANM for tanking against 2 damage types.
