Plac3Holder	Posted - 2010.12.01 21:02:00 - [1] Anyone here playing it? it's currently getting the highest ratings on MMORPG.com (for what that's worth) and I'm really curious to try it but being a poor student, having to spend $10 on the first month to try the game out puts me off a little and I was hoping some people here might have played it and have an opinion. Not really interested in hearing people bash it in comparison to EvE, more interested in hearing objective opinions. thanks!

[/sarcasm] General sentiment seems to be "it's sort of like EVE, but with giant robots on a planet instead of ~~submarines in space~~ spaceships, and with a few other differences here and there, some good, some bad". Some would call it a rip-off of EVE, others would say it only draws (a metric crapload of) inspiration from EVE, some will say it sucks, other will say it's ok. It doesn't appear to break any radical new ground, and is plagued by a lot of growing pains which might eventually settle down. The only mild advantage being claimed is the LoS shooting, but those playing end up considering more of a drawback than an advantage, with everybody preferring to use guided weapons (missiles) instead, thanks to the unreliability of twitch-ruled combat. If you like EVE, you might like Perpetuum, if you hate EVE you're probably going to hate Perpetuum. At least in its current incarnation. P.S. I don't play it. Never even tried, and don't plan to. If I didn't already have a general sense of what to do from eve (the game uses an eve engine) I would have been lost. If you want to get in on the first stages of a new eve-like game and you like fighting robots then this is the game for you. I suspect that if this game survives it will be a lot better by this time next year.

At MMORPG.com I posted quotes from their official forums of how much lag and problems they were having in response to an obvious paid poster title "I love this game" which basically said how it is lag free, and just adjust your settings.... lol. Then BAM 2 minutes later Im banned from MMORPG.com just like that. Account created in 2004. Now there is another paid poster saying the lag is because of turning on shadows. ROFL. PO went one step further, kinda like darkfall, They gave some beta testers free game time to set up fake corps to make it look like there are all these people playing. Amazing. . .
