Edited by: The Economist on 02/12/2010 18:03:02 I had a dream.
That dream was to fight in a capital fleet battle with one char and, towards the end, cyno in a rorqual on another to yoink the loot.
Then reality came crashing down on me when my tractor beams would only activate on friendly wrecks. Tears were shed and dreams were crushed.
Now we have a dedicated salvage/tractor ship in the form of the noctis; I understand that letting us tractor all wrecks could lead to some interesting high sec griefing but please, there must be some way to make this dream come true. Only allowing tractoring of all wrecks in 0.0 for example.
Tread softly CCP, for you tread on my dreams. (of loot wh*ring)

True the Noctis would be great in cleaning up a large battle area, but remember the other side would want to do the same. You would just be starting another battle to see who gets to loot what wrecks.
You will just have to be content in getting the friendly kills or abandoned wrecks.

Why?
What is the point of the restriction in 0.0?
Just seems to be limiting my gameplay.

Tractor beams work only with the right combination of science, ethics, god and bureaucracy.
Since god does not exist in 0.0 the question is; why do they work at all in null sec? This should be explored. Perhaps a solution to overcome ethical necessity could be developed.

How can you possibly consider this to be anything other then the best idea ever?

+2:
It's unrealistic you can't tractorbeam on who 'owns' the wreck.
Maybe, however, unlike salvaging it should be considered stealing in high/lowsec. ---

I think it could be done.
Allow tractoring of wrecks you don't own, but make it trigger GCC. That way pretty much everything stays the same in highsec and you can't tractor-ninja-salvage there, but you could do it in lowsec and 0.0.
Or maybe I missed something?

True, but after everyone kills everyone else...who will be left to clean up the mess?

I had thought of this topic awhile ago.. Why not just have tractorbeams on non-owned wrecks just cause GCC?
Here in lies the issue with Eve. In an effort to be about PvP and the PvPer, the game currently leans in favor of the griefers and baiters. If they were to consider such a move they need to change a few aspects of GCC and bounties. For instance if Concord wants pilots to handle theft than if a person steals from you and you fire on them it is just them not their fleet you have greivances with, also if either you blow them up or they blow you up that should end the issue, none of this baiting bull we have where a player steals and gets their crappy frig popped and then they have 15mins to find you in their epic PvP ship. The current theft system treats theft like a 15min war dec and it shouldn't. Also the bounty system needs addressed, bounties should be awarded to bounty hunters and not the the player who has the bounty on their head or their BFF. If CCP can somewhat balance the "crime and punishment" mechanics in the game then by all means tractoring other players wrecks and alot of other things could be possible. |
