I have been having problems when logging out, and have been encountering this error almost every time I leave the game.
When I click the Logout button in the ESC menu, quite often the game will lag/freeze for a few moments, during which time, if I click the button multiple times, the computer will then restart 1 client for each time the button was clicked.
If this does not occur, then that is because the lag/freeze never went away, and I am simply stuck staring at the ESC menu until I restart my computer.
Just curious if anyone has had similar problems.

I have had similar problems with the game freezing upon exit(but have not had the problem with multiple clients launching). Just to let you know you should not need to hard restart your mac when the game freezes on the ESC menu, you can force quit eve by pressing option-shift-command-esc together for 3 seconds(this works for me anyway).

You should be able to prevent the multiple clients being started by disabling the "Restart client on disconnect" option in the General tab.

There used to be a similar problem with using the Log out button on Mac clients but was fixed a while back, I just tried reproducing it on my MacMini running 10.6.5 and was unsuccessful, I'd very much appreciate if anyone experiencing these issues could post here to describe the symptoms. If you have time a bug report with more detailed system information would also be very helpful.

This happens on my 22' Imac.
Client loads and plays fine, alt tabbing etc works fine.
When I hit ESC then quit it hangs solid.
I couldn't get anything to unlock the game after that, although caps lock light still goes on/off. In the end a hard reset has to be used.
I'll go home tonight and try the option /shift etc key combo too.

The problem with exiting game is still there after 15.12.2010 update. Almost every time I quit EVE I have to use the "Force Quit" option.
I have 21" imac with Mac OS X 10.6.5.

I get alot of lockups on quitting too. Ive noticed that it happens most often if I play for awhile first. That is if I just log in, update a few orders, log out, it almost never locks up. So CCP: Maybe log in, fly about working on other bugs/issues for awhile (an hour?), then log, and see. Also for me it still only happens half the time, so keep trying.
Command-option-esc always gets me out.
Also if I'm in windowed mode when it happens, I do have access to the rest of the computer. In particular, I can see the activity monitor, and see that both cores are maxed out, with the "% system" being the vast majority of it. Next time it happens I'll check which process it is.
