Just as it says. How can you make a Tengu unprobeable? As being probed has everything to do with your signature radius, and knowing full well that even small drones can be probed easily enough, I see no way to do this, especially with a cruiser-sized ship. Being probed has TWO variables, signature radius and sensor strength. The bigger the sensor strength, compared to sig radius, the more difficult it becomes to be probed. Someone figured out that if your sensor strength is 1.08 x sig radius you can NOT be probed, not even with T2 rigs, implants, boosters and whatnot.
So, what you are looking for is upping your sensor strength (Dissolution Sequencer sub + ECCM) to a point where it exceeds your sig radius. Talon implants help with this but always have been buggy in regards to T3, not sure if this is corrected yet. If you want to run that T3 as a gang linker you can also use the skirmish sig radius link, lowering your sig and thus helping to get unprobeable.

Edited by: TheMahdi on 05/12/2010 10:47:30 Here you go, this is what I use for low sec L4s and it's 100% unprobeable (150 / 145 = 1.03 which is <1.08) with only 3 Low-grade Talon (about 50-60mil depending on which ones) and it is still buggy, sometimes you have to relog/reactive the ship but they do work. Cap stable too but it is seriously overtanked for most L4s but it's nice to not have to worry about anything.

You have it the wrong way round, with how you think it is you wouldn't even need ECCM as that would make it even lower than 1.03 :)
However, 1.03 is fairly unprobeable and shouldn't cause issues.

I would not advise anyone to use those implants atm, they are really bugged. I had them in for a week, and it was treating each implant like a module and giving me a stacking penalty for each one. I was told to reactivate my ship and try relogging to sort it out, but this only worked about one time in twenty, i have spent most of last week relogging and waiting that 30 seconds until i can change my ship. Eventually i got a GM to take them out and i replaced them with Halos instead to try the reduced sig radius they give.

It's because the chance of probing depends on the target's sig radius AND sensor strength, rather than using the prober's sensor strength. Thus you as the target in the Tengu control both variables. Get your sensor bigger than your sig, and nobody can get the 100% certainty they need for a warp-to location. They can see whereabouts you are as a yellow dot, but they don't get the green warp-to dot.

Interesting that having a high sensor strength actually makes you harder to probe. Common sense says it would make you easier to probe. But this is eve after all. Must be a bug.
In any case, thx. "When you have to shoot, shoot. Don't talk." |
