confused, possibly returning player after advice

Posted - 2010.12.06 15:53:00 - [1] ok i havent played for maybe 2 years i left as i spent ages getting my learning skills up followed by my mining skills only to discover that mining is not profitable (back then there was a lot of macro miners) im on the last 23 hours of a 5 day come back trial as i have no insurance on my ships i didnt dare undock lol i just took the time to at my skills and advance them a bit. now the questions 1) the new eve game comisioned officer, if i buy that can i add its beniefits and game time to my old character and account? (he is the only character on my account) 2)in the features of the game it says its free to play and you can buy game time with in game money, i have over 16 million isk so this apeals to me how do i do it and what is the cost? 3) is mining profitable again now? (im assuming they have stopped the macro farmers by now) 4) anything amazing added in the last two years i should be aware off? (i noticed certificats and rigging but just claimed my certificats not much more (and they seem to not do anything)) thanks in advance ** Signature ** join our corp at Corp homepage and fun zone

No, they haven't and mining has been on the decline as so many people can do it with multiple accounts and chat on whatever the ** kids chat on today, IRC, AIM, Facebook/twitter, watch tv etc. Mining has the benefit of being low attention threshold to do and stable income roughly a 'good' miner makes around 8-9million isk an hour now, give or take I quit mining long ago as a primary 'job'. EDIT: 4) Wormholes, uh stuff, best bet would be to check out the expansions you missed. --WIS/Incarna/Ambulation where microtransactions come to play, and uh bars.--**

Your post is also a bit paradoxical. You seem to base your reasons to leave, and your reasons to come back, in the profitability of mining, yet ask in point 4) if there are new and exciting features to the game. Well yes, there are many new cool features, and profitable as well. Planetary Interaction, wormhole, exploration, epic mission arcs just to name a few I've experienced myself. All of them are more profitable and fun than mining. So I suggest: Rejoin EVE and forget mining at all.

Posted - 2010.12.06 18:57:00 - [8] problem is i was never to good at the combat, i have a raven(or is it reaver) and put a lot into misiles (i was recommanded at the time that was the best idea) but mining was much much much more profitable for me. now none of my ships have insurance and 16 mil isk though im sure was a lot of money when i played seems to be a tiny amount, most of my implants aid learning ability (i thnk or atleast the core skills) the reason i left before was when transporting a large amount of stuff to a new home base for me i was attacked and lost a lot) i built up as best i could but never quite fully recovered. i cant renember all the details it was over 2 years ago, in fact the fraction/guild/corporation, i was with who held all my blueprints dont have me any more as im on a noob corp (aparently for 3 years but im sure it hasnt been that long) here it is in a nutshell.. i hate pvp i dont mind pve .. i love interacting with other people.. i have a powerful pc (64bit tripple core 4 gig of ram and the latest radeon card)at home and a netbook at work (samsung n110 higher specs then the laptop iused to play on but if the game has evolved a bit) im debating going to the start of the game with my guy and doing the missions as though i was a noob (as with my memory i may as well be plus the risk to my ship would be negable) so taking all that in account would you advise me to play the game for a month (now i know i cant just pick up the eve retail game and use the timecode from that the cost is more significant) ? i know you guys are gonna be a little bias but opinions are needed plus planet interactivity wormholes etc mean nothing to me as i have no idea what they are (ah ha i will look them up in a minute im at work at mo so have 7 hours to kill) anyway to interact with the game with out the client? using a iphone or a netbook for example? ** Signature ** join our corp at Corp homepage and fun zone

If not just go to another newbie starter system for caldari I remember Jouvulen, Akiainavas and Kisogo. http://eve.grismar.net/wikka.php?wakka=StarterSystems If you just want to see if you find the game appealing, wait till the 14th, learning skills will be removed and the attributes you'd get by training them all will be automatically put on the character then you can train up a new character w/o investing time in learning skills and do all the tutorials and see if you want to come back. If you do all that then find you want to come back you can just reactivate your old account. Otherwise if you are in a 5-6 day reactivation from an email and want to see if it is worth it for you to pay and comeback then I'd use the time you have do the tutorials then try to get back to whatever you liked doing, or try something else new you think sounds/seems cool before paying to resub. I wouldn't waste money reactivating if you weren't pretty sure you want to come back but that is me. --WIS/Incarna/Ambulation where microtransactions come to play, and uh bars.--

(im assuming they have stopped the macro farmers by now) If i were you i would train gas mining at WH space (BTW we are recruiting) and/or try Planetary Interaction also in WH space, it's boring but can wield a fair amount of "offline" isk 4) anything amazing added in the last two years i should be aware off? Highsec PI rates suck so you need to invest in 0.0 or WH space to make real isk. EVE University is maybe the best place for a noob. There you can learn almost anything about EVE. if you like mining could be a good idea to join a WH resident corp where you can mine all ore from A(rkonor) to V(eldspar) plus you could get a good income from gas harvesting good luck to restart in EVE.
