Modern Faster-Than-Light communications relies on the entangle meant of two quantum bits. This entangle has been found to exert a subtle influence on local space time. Under ordinary circumstances the effect is minimal, however each entangled pair actually has a latent effect on local space time.
In extreme circumstances the gravitation has been known to form something that is known as a "Space-Time Node" in which the effects begin to compound. This on it's own has minimal effect, however excessive weapons fire and ship action has been known to destabilize these "Nodes" resulting in what many capsuleers call a "Node Crash".
Preservation of causality is essential for all faster-then-light activities. But in a "node crash" situation, the entangled pairs cause such perturbation that time actually reverses erratically across a system. This time reversal is more commonly known as "Rollback" and has been reported on multiple occasions.
In addition during this period, all entangled bits begin spew random bits, rather then a coherent data stream. This in effect overloads a Capsuleer's neural pathways. Thus an immediate Disconnect must be affected in order to prevent irreparable brain damage.
The Node Crash leaves a lasting effect on local space times, in effect leaving it unusable for time periods between several minutes to a few hours. In a worse case scenario, ansible traffic generated from the Node Crash can feed back over the entire capsuleer communication network. This overloads the communication's servers governing interstellar commerce causing a "Server Crash" For this reason, the use or research of LAG weapons has been outlawed by the Yulai Convention. Any attempt to use one is grounds for immediate revocation of the offender's pilot's license. Despite this, LAG weapons are suspected to have been deployed in several inter-alliance conflicts.
I approve of this post.
