I think its nice that you only have a 1/2 hour down time, but if you cant get all the jobs you need to do during downtime I would rather have a 1 hour down time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

asteroid resetting has significant impact on officer loot distribution.
At least 50% of all officers are found during first 2 hours after dt. My personal experience it's more like 80%, maybe less for others.

I thought that asteroid belts were no longer spawned during downtime, but done so dynamically at run time? I'm talking about the actual roids here, not the rats. ----------

Im not sure what you mean by runtime but the astroids are renewed after the downtime each day.

As for what I mean by "runtime", programmers use that mean "when the application is running". As opposed to a task which occurs while the program is not running, or while the program is being compiled.
For example the size of an array whose size is determined at compile time is fixed - it can not grow or shrink while the program is running. The size of an array whose size is determined at run time can grow or shrink as the program is running.
An EVE analogy would be that exploration sites are spawned "at run time". I *THOUGHT* that soon after exploration was added, that CCP moved the asteroid spawning job from downtime to runtime. Guess I was wrong. ----------

that's weird for some reason I thought the same thing. There must've been a dev blog about this we are thinking about. But I'm not sure if it actually happened or they were just talking about it happening soon. ----------------------------------------------- Free Trade Corp - Flash page

Edited by: Blane Xero on 07/12/2010 01:19:44 It has never been done during runtime. What was done is Complexes and Anomalies; with discussion on possibly moving that technology onto belts in the future, iirc.
Belts have always been downtime, with various asteroid types on different days, or so i recall with Kernite usually being mondays and fridays or something like that. _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

Consider that they are working on removing downtime completely.
DOES THIS MEAN WE WILL RUN OUT OF SPACE MINERALS?

mining will be done via PI PI mines will be expensive and upgraded on planets, billions of isk can be put into a single mine. When trying to kill a mine you can nuke it ( isk lost/isk sink) or capture it using dust 514 mercs. so pay dust mercs 500mil to try and take a 10bil city, or nuke it and start from scratch,
oh yea i made that all up sadly.

Maybe they will all finnaly be moved to exploration light, findable with the onboard scanner, like anamolies can be.

remove all ore fields and move to entirely gravimetric scanning and amol systems

It's a prelude to the 2nd part of the x-mas present. Several players have complained about how asteroid fields adds nothing to the game(tm) and want it removed due to the vast amount of new players finding it a boore and quit.

well, for me they can remove them.. never looked anything like I expected and mining in those things is for macros only anyway(*).. Get rid of them. Make em gravimetric sites only. Want to see the macros cope with that. Just a test CCP? please!
(*)exploration is so damn easy, every noob knows what to do after 5 minutes with the tutorial..
