So when the patch came out, I got bored, had a spare hookbill, and to be silly, threw it up on the market for 100 million. Now mind you this was in the forge region and there was already hookbills in Jita for 35 mil.
A few days later someone actually bought my hookbill. Now do you market folks find this common, where people will pay way too much if the ship is close, was someone clicking too quickly and I actually ripped them off, or what?

It could be a mistake, but also the other option is they have so much isk they genuinely don't care. Might have been someone who saw it was closer, realised it would save X minutes just buying it at a higher price, which at their current isk/hr rate worked out better than spending longer to travel. Some people do that.

On par with what everyone's said in this thread, the buyer of your Hookbill realized that the 65 million ISK wasn't worth the time to fly out a few more jumps to Jita.
Congratulations! A few more sales like this and you'll be changing your own attitude about money vs. flight time!

Before the coming of PI I would buy complex reactor arrays in Perimeter, haul them one jump to Jita and sell them for 20% profit. Now I regularly sell stuff for 2 to 3 times the Dodixie price even tough I'm 3 jumps away from Dodixie.
Do not underestimate the profitability in laziness, or in those who's "time is money" threshold is higher than yours.
I hope you went to Jita, bought another Hookbill, and put it up for sale at your previous sale site.

That's a big one. I never tried that but I've been moving more and more that direction.
I'll sell items for 1.4 that sell for 800k 3 jumps away all the time
I don't want to give away much. But that sort of thing seems like the easiest way for me to scale up while also reducing playing time

And I bought 5 Hornet EC-300s in Tama today for 100k isk apiece. Your point?

OP: Next time, just add an extra 3 zeros on the end instead of multiplying by 3. It's a lot funnier when it works.

lol, i lost track of how many shuttles i sold for 9mil. The famous "comma/point" error.
I think nobody buys a too expensive item on purpose. It could also be that alcohol is involved. Hence, this is the reason i myself bought a 9mil shuttle once and gave me the wonderful idea of selling them myself at that price.

The thing I always think is amazing is when someone sells to my buy order in station A when there is a buy order in the SAME system at station B for 10000x the amount.
The only explanation I have is that it was a remote sell and they are off 15 jumps away in the same region and they are just clearing out their stocks.
I support this behavior as I make money from it.

naw, they buy them because the need them then.
I'll buy out all the Cap Booster 800s at stations sometimes for 4000 isk a piece and sell them for 275k a piece. I can tell the buyers aren't making a mistake because they buy just a minimum amount. Mostly just for kicks .
Really, its not worth my time though.. at 275k a piece..even with 95% profit.. the volume just doesn't add up to enough for the clicks and trade spot involved.
