wow, well that sucks. Although the accuracy of the data had been going downhill for some time, still it was a nice site. Vote Illectro for CSM5! Supporting the New Generation of Eve Players |

That might be because the uploader didn't work properly anymore. At least for me, the uploader stopped working some time ago. There's another updater linked in the bug section of EVE Metrics, but that one didn't work either for me (non-standard EVE installation and using paramater /LUA:OFF). The later one didn't even find the EVE installation. -- EVEWalletAware - an offline wallet manager |

You'd want to talk to Ix Forres, but he's made it pretty clear in the post I linked to above that he isn't interested in supporting even a transfer to someone else.
No time/no money.
As an aside I only recently learned that the TOS prohibit profiting from the API. Which means no advertising on websites that provide services such as Eve-Metrics.

The eve-metrics cache scrap3r software doesn't use the API per se, no?
edit: does this mean the scrap3r project is dead? That is probably MD's hottest underexploited asset at this time.

Edited by: Baeryn on 08/12/2010 01:09:27 Not interested in profit, just want to keep the service running as costs are usually the reason these things shut down. I'll EVEmail 'im.

Yeah this is a major hiccup. Maybe even a major whoopsie.
Frankly the cache-scrap3r, the profanity filter is odd, is one of the better parts as it didn't require exporting market logs.

that feature was not exclusive to eve-metrics.
you have libevecache and you have Reverence - throwing together a frontend for one of these doesn't take longer than a couple of minutes (iirc libevecache even includes a sample program that gives you cache entries of market orders in a .csv format).
eve-central has a cache-reading uploader for quite some time now, too.
(again: reverence is extremely powerful, yet many people are not aware of it - don't be afraid of snakes, just use it)

I started working on my own cache-reading/order uploading application a few days ago, feels like a really good idea now. And +1 for Reverence, it's really powerfull and Python turns out to be a lot easier to write code with than expected

Hey thanks for the heads up on Reverence!
IMO I'm taking some time out to learn Python and how to integrate it with a GUI package so that's a lead in right there. :)

While I completely appreciate the generous efforts put in on eve metrics, a true and accurate data source on all orders across all regions would take away many of the hugely profitable niches that are fun to discover and exploit
If players went a step further a regularly exposed system volume it would be that much worse
A collection of jita average sales price and hi bid / lo ask data would be enough to supply kbs and inventory management programs with rough numbers to make useful approximizatioms
