It was no 'North Star' you dolt, the laws of physics make that pretty clear.
No way would any normal star suddenly appear all over the cluster and then simply disappear at the same exact time, this leads us to the only conclusion that it must have been something besides a star. (light speed being constant)
What is was we never found out...

Remember when you could see the starmap when in normal view? In the middle of empire you were surrounded by stars, then when you went to the edge of 0.0 everything was pretty much to one side of you. Felt like you were on the edge of a void. They made a bit of a deal about this feature.
Then they just removed it without really mentioning it.

I remember warping through a long system and seeing that... I was stuck wondering what the hell that was about for a good long time....awesome though it'd be.

I always knew about that damn north star when it was on the evenews, but could never find it for some reason when it was in game *wears the tard hat*

It was more likely to be our side of the gate than the far side of the gate, you can see the EVE Gate from ground level on Amarr Prime.

Oh yes, I remember the discussion about it in Insurgency Alliance chat. We were based in Northern 0.0 so we had a laugh about the "North Star". It was late 2007, or early 2008 IIRC.

What I want for christmas is an absolute new character remake. With race, sex and bloodline. Fitting really considering what kind of milestone the new tool is for EVE online.
