Hi,
I've started a small business of making ship BPC copies and trying to sell them to generate some extra income. So I've set up a forum post on Sell Orders (link below) with the first few copies and there were a few nice customers, than a while now nothing. I'm not so good at marketing or running businesses, so nice ppl of MD can you tell me what I'm doing wrong.
The link on Sell Orders
Thanks in advance, Alvar

You're in an unbelievably oversaturated market, for one.

Then you need to get good at it, because this is probably what you are doing wrong Begin by looking at your competitors and existing trade, in order to find out what the market wants. Then try to identify your customer needs.
Identifying market demand and customer needs are continuous processes. Your business model should be a constantly improving reflection of market reality.
Also, be patient and determined

i am sorry to tell you but the bpc market is kinda crowded try to produce instead or switch to blueprints not many can/want to afford (the more expensive the blueprint the less competition you are likly to have ... but also less customers)

Offhand
1. How many runs for each BPC? I can't remember and frankly I'm not going to take the time to look it up. If you aren't going to provide that information then I won't know how good a deal this is as I generally don't produce stuff.
2. What is the BPC cost per run? If you don't provide the right kind of information then people won't buy from you because they won't know immediately whether or not it's a good deal.
3. Your customers are probably not established players with their own well researched BPOs but rather more casual players or missioning/pvp players who want to simply make their own ships. I've got a Raven BPC in hangar for that very purpose.
4. No frigate, destroyer or cruiser BPCs? You know Hulkageddon IV is coming in a couple weeks right? While the more established corps/alliances have their own manufacturing any number of players will want to setup a pool of ready made and fitted ships to go kill hulks and other miners. Plus there's faction warfare and pvp. Sometimes it's just easier to carry a BPC and build on the spot.
5. IMO most people don't read the Sell Orders forum so if you want more business then you're going to have to occasionally spam local. Best thing IMO is get a couple trial accounts and put one trial character in each missioning or pvp area and then at the most opportune time for that specific location; announce on local your products, why people should be interested and the cost per run.
You can figure out the proper time to do that by looking up the system in DotLan which will tell you the most active time for that system's player base.
...
*shrug* this is all from the top of my head so YMMV and take with a bit of salt ok?

And people read local? Instead of spamming local why don't you try putting up contracts and link them in the blueprints channel. I've bought BPCs from there and as far as I can tell so do many other people.
I agree with Zeta about max runs though, be sure to include that.

Well when I'm really bored I read local.
Heh. When I incredibly bored I read the Recruitment channel!
Yeah. Either I'm a jackass or an idiot.

You might be better off finding unconventional ways to sell the bpcs. Like making friends with a nearby carebear corp or someone who "wants to start building in 0.0" and doesn't quite have the capital to start by buying bc bpo's.

The problem with "small business" and BPCs is, that you have to compete with BPO owners possibly having spent years of BPO research already -- which is a head start you imo can only make up with offering a better service (delivery on the spot where stuff is needed or repackaging different BPCs in a meaningful way), if at all. If at all because usually players striving for convenience will go buy the end product and won't touch any blueprints.
