Amarr Deus Imperiosus Acies Covenant of Prophecy

Today at approximately 23:30 EVETime, a flotilla of Capsuleers responded to a Sansha's Nation wormhole sighting in the system of Antem, a center of recent Sansha activity.
During this attack, a Obelisk-Class Freighter, flown by Pilot Malarthi Behemoth of Red Frog Freight, warped into the battle, escorted by CONCORD agent Haeldone Dorgiers in a Nyx-class mothership.
While our fleet took losses defending it, the freighter was able to approach the invading wormhole and detinate what seemed to be a massive bomb, comprised of [Classified by CoP Intel] and a sizable cache of extra-large ammunition of all kinds.
The explosion destroyed the wormhole in it's entirety, and our fleet withdrew.
I wish to once again give my personal thanks to those capsuleers who have put their ships and crews on the line to protect Imperial Subjects.
God bless our efforts, and Fly Strong.

Let's see.
You would spend... say, seven hundred million ISK on this Obelisk. You would then spend some indeterminate amount more on ammunition and mystery explosives, and detonate it at the wormhole, losing this investment entirely along with the lives of anybody aboard who was unable to leave.
I don't know if you noticed that the Nation is able to open these wormholes where and when they want to? Seems an awful waste of your time, but it's nice that you want to spend so much on us, I guess.

Let's see: CONCORD provided the freighter from its central stores in Yulai. I filled it with my own isk, costing about 675 million. There was no one aboard this freighter except me; CONCORD in addition to supplying the freighter also supplied modified Gallente drones to aid in running the ship, which made it more effective as I'm skilled enough with the Obelisk I usually fly it alone. It is, after all, just a large volume of space. No modules. No rigs. No targeting, nothing to worry about except various protective layers, a warp drive, sublight engines and what to do with my time while I'm in warp.
I don't know if you noticed that Nation did not, for whatever reason, reopen the wormhole as soon as it was closed. Make of that what you will.
Red Frog will deliver to anywhere in contiguous high security space, and our sister Black Frog will deliver most places in low security space. In this case I'm proud to say I got the package moved ahead of schedule and right on target! |

The source of the hull or the materials doesn't change that it is still a waste of a ship and ISK -- but hell, if you want to keeep throwing them at us, go right ahead.

Delightful, you didn't kill people in blowing the thing up. I won't even get into how little stock I put in your claims of flying such a large ship uncrewed. It's nice that you've found a way to fly them more effectively, really warms my heart.

The logical deduction is that the operation was complete and we had no need to reopen the wormhole. Not everything we do involves dropships or upliftings.

Yes antem is the source of the sansha network having had 3 invasions in the last week. Either that or the sansha are rather unimaginative but it is close to the new eden system and the residents of antem IV are just about all kidnapped now so activity should decrease

If it was an Obelisk, it was not such a loss. Gallente have a hard time matching the Charon. Even the Minmatar design is capable of doing better, as they are remarkably quick.
I guess that's the kind of ship you get when production is rushed.
Good job, but be sure to figure out exactly how much of this explosive material is needed to collapse a wormhole, shame to lose so much scrap and isk at the same time.
The use of a Nyx seems to be ominous. unless CONCORD will let us set off cynos in hisec, we won't have that firepower availible when Sansha really gets serious.

Compiled with the assistance of CONCORD and Amarr authorities in Antem. Cleared for Public Release.
20:21, CONCORD agent Haeldone Dorgiers relayed intelligence from capsuleers that a wormhole in Antem still remained open after the previous Sansha attacks. This wormhole, located far from the warp-in zone of the planet, had gone unnoticed by local forces. Understandably, they were still in the stages of reinforcing planetary defenses, and the anomaly had slipped by scanners.
20:23, Agent Dorgiers confirmed the presence of the wormhole and notified CONCORD forces, which in turn notified all four empires.
Federation assets still on deployment in the area were redirected to assist.
20:28, Agent Dorgiers briefed active capsuleers in the SYNEPUBLIC channel about the possibility of using the open wormhole to test a new collapse method with a freighter. Pilots were asked to hold until the Cpt. Malarthi could arrive with the ôpackageö.
21:37, Agent Dorgiers briefed local squadrons from both the Federation and Amarr navies on the situation. He relayed a plan already set in motion days before with Cpt. Malarthi, explaining that he been provided with a customized Obelisk freighter by CONCORD agents. The freighter was manned by a suite of CreoDron drones that would both crew the vessel and monitor every piece of data possible at the time of hull breach. The rest of the interior was packed with a number of explosive materials. The detonation of the vessel near the wormhole was hoped to create some kind of abnormal behavior, and better yet, breach the wormhole itself, perhaps shedding new light on one of the NationÆs most troubling of tactical advantages.
21:40, As if in response to the increase of activity, interference in the system of Antem began to rise above normal levels, while still remaining within acceptable limits. Local empire forces were advised by CONCORD to head planetside and fortify strategic locations.
21:49, CreoDron agents were notified of the plan being set in motion and requested on-site access to the Obelisk.
21:51, At the suggestion of CONCORDÆs Inner Assembly, local Federation forces temporarily transferred command of the Supercarrier FNS Laeres to Agent Dorgiers. Remaining squadrons withdrew to Yulai.
22:12, CreoDron agents were escorted aboard the FNS Laeres from a secure location. Agent Dorgiers deployed to Antem immediately. With every part of the plan ready except MalarthiÆs Obelisk, Empire pilots were instructed to standby and prepare for anything.
22:37, Interference in the system grew to the maximum acceptable limit.
22:56, Interference in the system of Antem exceeded safe operational limits.
22:58, Agent Dorgiers instructed capsuleers that the wormhole closure needed to happen immediately, without Cpt. MalarthiÆs Obelisk. Capsuleer forces would have to attempt a conventional closure of the wormhole with the use of Gravimetric ECM.
23:13, Nation forces deployed through the wormhole. Reports state a 30-strong Battleships squadron without dropship deployments. No Commander was sighted at this point or any other during the entire engagement.
23:16, Cpt. Malarthi made a well-timed appearance, reporting his presence aboard the Obelisk in Imya, just one jump away.
23:22, FNS Laeres joined with the capsuleer fleet on standby in Imya to assist Cpt. Malarthi safely into Antem. Local Sansha sympathizers were rallying on the Imya gate, attempting to deter the operation.
23:44, Cpt. Malarthi entered Antem under the watchful gaze of the capsuleer fleet assembled to safeguard him. He exited warp without a scratch.
23:48, Cpt. Malarthi initiated self-destruct of his Obelisk.
23:50, The Obelisk exploded. CreoDron drones relayed data feeds to FNS Laeres and its occupants, stationed only hundreds of meters away from the blast.
23:51, The wormhole closed.

For Immediate Release: Informal Report on Initial Data Capture:
The reach of the explosion from Cpt. MalarthiÆs Obelisk was estimated to be several kilometers wide, with considerable impact force at the epicenter. The power of the blast managed to eject matter through the wormhole, sending millions of microscopic particles out to the other side. The unique nature of the materials used and their specific detonation sequence created a distinctive collapse scenario. The drones were able to narrow in on what were effectively ôechoesö from the other side of the wormhole, bouncing back off the explosive impact and rain of atomic debris.
In this seemingly innocuous data we can learn many things.
Now this data we have acquired, it is not foolproof. This cannot be stressed enough. It should be treated as an insight, and not the full answer. We will have to investigate much further in order to fully verify anything we have found.
We have evidence that leads us to believe the NationÆs wormholes are created by a unique projecting force. The abnormal nature of the wormhole generation technology, glimpsed only briefly by the drones during impact, allows us to draw tentative links between the wormholes created thus far, and the generator glimpsed on the other side.
We are still compiling the last of the matches, but so far, it would appear that every wormhole created since all of this began came from the same device.
The implications of this are obvious, if the data turns out to be reliable. We must find and destroy that device.
Further information will be provided once it becomes available.
My thanks go out on behalf of the Federation Navy to Cpt. Malarthi, his escort fleet, and the Commanders who rallied the people with efficiency and speed.

Edited by: Julianus Soter on 09/12/2010 03:51:37 This confirms a hypothesis that was conceived during the past six months, and mentioned in the Second Seyllin Conference. That there is a single such wormhole generation device should not, by any means, be a comfort. Anything that has been created can be recreated, and such a device will likely have copies or back-ups for the eventuality that the device currently being used is destroyed.
The Synenose Accord dispatched numerous long-range covert expeditions to the regions of Providence, Catch, Stain, Esoteria, and Paragon Soul, first traveling to the locations mentioned within the Ishaeka Reports, and then hunting down a target specifically requested by Haeldone Dorgiers. All intelligence gathered during these operations was transmitted directly to the participants of Operation Snowblind, with no response. The intel was distributed instead to the capsuleer community as a whole during the Second Seyllin Conference.
The conclusion of these expeditions was that there was no conclusive evidence of any unusual facilities or deadspace constructs matching the description of a wormhole generator. Indeed, such anomalies were detected before in w-space, in Class Six systems. No similar energy signatures were found, here.
Additionally, logic dictates that the device cannot be of Jovian origin. The fact that Sansha's Nation had invaded Jove Empire space meant that they had used the wormhole generator to bridge the interstellar divide to the Jove regions.
Furthermore, Sansha's Nation has been using similar such artificially created wormholes in Angel Cartel space several months before the War of Resurgence ever began, for small scale raids into Cartel sovereign space.
That leaves us with the possibility of a Sleeper or Talocan origin for the technology, or something of indigenous Sansha design, perhaps hybridized with other 'borrowed' technology.
As mentioned earlier, the energy required for wormhole portal generation is orders of magnitude greater than jump drives. The signatures and strange energy readings in Class Six systems, emanating from Sleeper facilities, indicate that such wormhole generation technology leaves long-term energy patterns, that could perhaps be triangulated, if a general location of the device is found.
The Synenose Accord will continue to analyze the situation, and may launch additional expeditions to targeted regions again should such investments in time and personnel be warranted.

I can personally confirm that, Mr. Balenne. True Slave communications traffic within the 37S system corresponded to Sansha commanders preparing to launch incursions. Since the original detection of these signals, their communications protocols have been tightened significantly, but the implications are clear.
As an addendum, SYNE joint reconnaissance taskforces also did thorough sweeps of the star system in question with combat and core scanner probes. No unusual anomalies or other results were detected.

Size unknown at this time, but consider the possibility that some attacks, for a period, were launched from 3-CE1R and not the Nation's Headquarters in Stain. If that were the case, then this is perhaps something small enough to be movable.

Is it possible that their base in 37S-KO (If that is indeed where it is.) is somehow cloaked. If that is the case, they may not have the capability to oporate the cloak and the worm hole device at the same time. Has anyone scanned the system during an attack?

It remains unclear if the jovian system suspected of being the base of opeartions for the sanshas is the source of these wormhoels or has been scanned but it is therorised to be the case.
As to weather the jovians are assisting or even aware the sansha have taken up operations within their space remains unknown = there is the possibliity this is a outlying jovian system and they remain unaware or ignorant to the sansha base if that is its origin
No response has been recieved from the jovian representatives as of yet

Probably not Jovian I agree, most likely Sleeper technology. Although we cannot be certain. It is well-documented that the Jovians have left pieces of their technology lying around outside of their currently held space.
