You simply don't understand it.
Raptor has a definite meaning. The dinosaur Velociraptor was given its name specifically because of what it meant. And you seem to think Raptor refers specifically to the dinosaur that contains the word in its name.
It is just as stupid as thinking that the Amazon rainforest was named after Amazonsaurus, or that the sun was named after Helioceratops. TEST Alliance BEST Alliance |

No u. The list was a design decision by which had no criteria other than possible pure avians. A general term for a large group of birds was overshadowed in my eyes by genus of dinosaurs. |

Makes the most sense as most Caldari ships are named after birds. Join the Knights Of Illusion STE Corporation! Casual and Hardcore gamers! |

I hope they name the next new Caldari ship "Serval."
It would somewhat fit (there already is a ship named directly after a cat), and just sounds cool. There is a fine and proper artistry to wielding verbal scalpels, such that the crap-poster you've slashed doesn't even know they've been cut. But verbal bludgeons -- Those are just fun. |

I think they should name the next Caldari ship, preferably an industrial, the "Lobster." Why? I don't know.

Raptor literally means bird of prey. It is not an "almost bird" (not to mention birds are dinosaurs).
Toss it off a cliff and see if it flies in any direction but down...

A lot has been explained about the bird in this thread so far, but for those who still don't know about the bird I recommend watching the following video on youtube:

Bootleg Jack wrote:I love the art of this ship, to me it is one of the only ships that really looks like a battleship; this ship has that " If we run out of ammo we can RAM them look" I fly a raven and all those wings look delicate.
The front of the Rokh also appears to have some sort of multi panel door. Each time i see it, and the ridged effect on the hull i think - ship length coilgun or some other sort of sub-capital doomsday, battleship 1-hitter weapon
