or have the grace to allow those tasked with such duty to accomplish it safely and efficiently.
In other words, if you have already taken what you wish from a wreck or salvage-yielded jetcan (or are not interested in the take from said wreck or can), please abandon it. Yellow wrecks and cans not only have the obvious risks involving aggression countdowns and killrights, but also cannot be tractored; a fact that many pilots seem to be oblivious to, but seriously impacts the efficiency of field clearing operations post-battle.

Some wait for cans to be abandoned... others loot them and deal with the consequences.

I know I've stolen many things from un-abandoned cargo and wrecks

Looting and dealing with the consequences is not the issue here...it's the fact that heavy-duty cleanup setups (even salvage 'canes to some extent, but ESPECIALLY Noctii and Orcas tasked to clear the field) rely on their tractors extensively if not exclusively. Yellow can/wreck = we can't tractor it = we have to fly to it. My Noctis can manage 600m/s or so with its MWD running, and if the MWD is left running during salvage operations, has been known to cap out, forcing operations to pause. Your results may vary, but it is still a major impact on efficiency nonetheless.

Battlefield remnants scanned... Discoveries uploaded and categorized... Assimilating mundane materials... Analyzing results... Simulation suggests current search pattern will yield expected results... Probability of new discovery less than 2%... Establishing new search pattern...
