Greetings EVE-evildoers.
Back in the day, killing a pod did more than just stop all that delicious crying in local. Provided you had the sound enabled you were also rewarded with a distinctive squishing sound as your victim was crushed like a bug by your implement of destruction. It never failed to bring out a smile .
For some unfathomable reason, this sound was removed. Since that day there was no more appeal to have sound enabled and the world of EVE is slightly more bland as a result. If you have heard it, you probably miss it. If you never had the pleasure to experience it, believe me when I say that it was great!
So I come to you to try to appeal to help me to bring it back. I had started a thread in the assembly hall to bring this issue to the attension of CSM:
http://www.eveonline.com/iNgameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1425186&page=1
Please spare a moment of your time to make a post of support and thus help making your next Rancer smartbomb trip a more fulfilling experience!
Thank you.

I play with the sound off. Back in the day, when I used to pirate I would occasionally catch a pod. I would hit approach, fiddle with the sound to get it just so, then squish the ****er! Can't believe they got rid of that sound!?

whenever I was flying in a POD I named it squish for this very reason..
I agree with the OP, seem pointless to name my pods this now but I still do out of nostalgia

Squishy noises are awesome and a very nice sound effect to go along with sudden, poddy death. Long live the pod squish noise (I wish )!

+1 though. I do miss that sound. ----------- Why is it called common sense, when it's clearly very rare.
I had a mind once, but alas, I seem to have forgotten where I left it.

I think I remember hearing that from a podkill in early 2008. Why was it removed?

Why was the good looking cynofield changed to a crap looking one?

Did they also get rid of the sound that plays when you blow a corpse up?
That was a sickening crunch-squish noise. --

+1 for cool in game effects. Don't need nostalgia to know when suggestions need to be implemented.

No pod squish? Now I'll have to overdub it onto my fraps. I can't find the actual sound so I'll have to match it as close as I can. It's a toss up between a fart sound and Beethoven's "Ode to Joy".
>lock pod< >pew pew pew< *fart sound* ... naah, lacks finesse
>lock pod< >pew pew pew< O Freunde, nicht diese T÷ne! Sondern la¯t uns angenehmere anstimmen, und freudenvollere. Freude! Freude! Freude! Freude!
(Oh friends, not these tones! Rather, let us raise our voices in more pleasing And more joyful sounds! Joy! Joy! Joy! Joy!)
+1, bring it back

bring back the squish, it was my reason for being, my reason for getting up in the morning and spreading the love through the sharing of ammo. i would throw myself out of a airlock in protest but alas it would not make any noise now apparently.

This makes a lot more sense to me why people still describe bad players or bad ships as "squishy" targets. Never had a reason to think twice about that word until now.
