Some of you may have experienced random disconnects in the past few days. After some investigation it seems that this is being caused by issues in LINX (London INternet eXchange), the hub for a lot of internet traffic in Europe and across the Atlantic.
Our engineers are looking into possible ways to mitigate this problem. In the meantime, we would ask everyone affected by this issue to send us your pingplotter and/or traceroute results - it will really help us to tackle the issue. More information on how to obtain them can be found here.

As you guys haven't got a presence in LINX (due to who hosts you/your primary upstream supplier ) I would suggest asking someone in the community to have a look on the LINX members section? Maybe then you'll have an ETTR without having to do much yourselves?
Teadaze probably knows someone with a LINX member login if he doesn't have one himself - as do a load of other players no doubt.
FWIW I'm not seeing significant packet loss on my ISPs LINX interconnect as of 15:50 GMT. This time yesterday I had 30% packet loss on that interconnect.

Well 2 days when I d/c I made a thread asking if anyone else was, I was asking in channels and local and it seemed like I was the only one.

Was getting this problem about 20 hours ago too which lasted at least 5 hours. I'm in the UK also.
Edit: 20 - 17 hours ago when reconnecting after being dropped sometimes I would get the socket closed error message, not had that so far tonight. Also interesting to note that during this time it was very difficult to use this website, when trying to access a page it quite often timed out.

Looks slightly better today. Just after midnight there was another load of routes dropped (60,000 or so) at LINX but since then it looks reasonable. We'll see once the load starts building later in the morning whether its been "fixed" or not.
It'd be very helpful if someone with a LINX member login could go take a look at what's the reported issue with the Brocade LAN (.224) and if theres an estimated time to repair. I can't believe there's nobody here with a login

They can't.
Its nothing to do with CCP - unless they have a member login (which they don't as they have no LINX presence) they are reliant on second-hand info about what's going on.
About all they could do is get packetexchange to drop LINX routing for the Brocade (.224) LAN and I doubt that'd help much, might even make things worse.
This could go on for some time depending on the problem - its already been ongoing for 5 days which indicates its really not a trivial issue.

The LINX Brocade LAN problem is now apparently fixed.
Do note that it was "fixed" on Friday as well and reappeared a day or so later.
Currently traffic levels and routes are normal, so if you still have an issue then its probably not LINX now.

Aaaah so that's why I almost lost my Legion this morning to one of the most poor gate camps I've ever seen. My heart was in my mouth lol, I'd just got some T3 skills to level 5, it's got faction kit on it and I was flying about with all my expensive implants. Landed on gate, and then tonnes of lag, Single Zealot just locking me up and shooting away. Kept hitting jump, kept getting told I was jumping, and then finding out I hadn't jumped at all. Made it through just as he was coming in for a bump.
Reason it filled me with such dread was that I knew "the logs don't show anything".

I think it was done to identify that LINX was in fact the London Internet Exchange where each letter in the acronym was capitalised in the name for people to understand what it was.
Seems that is lost on some people however.

Hi,
Could you please run the game with the following attributes
Go to the directory where EVE is installed and create a shortcut for the EVE process ( eve.exe ) when the shortcut has been created right click on "eve.exe - shortcut" and select properties.
In the shortcut tab under Target add /minidump behind the target line so it'll look something similar to this "C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\eve.exe" /minidump
Reproduction step are very important part of the report. Write exactly what you did to make the problem happen. This will help the programmers see where the problem is, and hopefully make it happen on their own computers.
Using the logserver (to minimize problems with this, its recommended that you either restart your computer or check Task managers process list for unresponsive instances of Eve.exe)
1. Find your Eve folder in Windows Explorer 2. When you have the Eve folder open, find "logserver.exe" and launch it (Do NOT have EVE running) 3. Select "File" - "New Workspace" 4. Start Eve using the shortcut you created 5. When you have reproduced the bug, Eve crashes or when you kill the process if it hangs, select "File" - "Save workspace as..." and save the workspace in a place you'll find it again.
Finding the crashdump
1. Press Windows Key + R and paste the following line into the Run window.
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\ if you use Windows XP %LOCALAPPDATA%\CCP\EVE\ if you use Windows Vista.
2. Find the .dmp file with the most recent time stamp. Files called #error*.txt are useless.
1. Also run the DirectX diagnostics tool: Press 'Start' and select 'run'. Type dxdiag and hit enter. When you do this, a window will pop up. 2. Click the "Save All Information" button that's located in its lower right corner. 3. In order to thoroughly test your connection to the EVE server then I recommend that you download a program called pingplotter which is available here http://www.pingplotter.com/downloads/pngplt_2.exe If you are running a hardware firewall (SPI Firewall) on your router you will need to disable it, as otherwise this program won't work. After starting up pingplotter do the following in the program:
1) Under "Adress to trace" put the following value in the box: 87.237.38.200 2) In the bottom left corner in the box "# of times to trace" put the value 1500 3) In the bottom left corner in the box "Trace Intervals" change it to 2.5 seconds 4) In the bottom left corner in the box "Samples to include" change it to 1500. 5) Click on "Trace" button in the bottom left corner.
Also could you run the pinglotter test again, but this time with the following changes:
1) In pinglotter go to the menu Edit - Options 2) Go to Packet tab and add the following settings: - Packet type: TCP Packets - Time to wait for ping replies: 3000 - Packet send delay: 40 - Packet size: 40 - ToS/DSCP header byte: 00000000 - Starting hop: Final hop only - TCP Port: Other: 26000 - Rest of the options leave at default 3) Under "Address to trace" put the following value in the box: 87.237.38.200 4) In the bottom left corner in the box " of times to trace" put the value Unlimited 5) In the bottom left corner in the box "Trace Intervals" change it to 2.5 seconds 6) In the bottom left corner in the box "Samples to include" change it to ALL. 7) Click on "Trace" button in the bottom left corner.
While running the test, please try and stay logged into EVE. Let the test run until you lose connection to the server.
When it's completed save it as the sample set ( pp2 ).
4. Then compress all files and attach the compressed file to either this e-mail or by using the attachment box by logging in to "My Petitions" on our homepage ( http://support.eveonline.com/Pages/Petitions/MyPetitions.aspx ) and opening the petition there. An attachment box is presented after opening the petition.

A) Your not very good with computers are you? B) Well how else do you expect them to see exactly whats happening from the insides of your computer? Sounds you want them to come to your house and diagnose the issue right there, since you don't want tot send them relevant info. C) It takes you an hour to peel onions? The ping plotter file I sent CCP had literally 3-4 days worth of data on it, on both 15 sec and 2.5 second plots.
Initially they said it was my router, even though just sitting around observing the plots, 95% of the problems occured in the london exchange, and very often at the gateway from ccp's servers themselves.
Was this looked at? and from my ping plots from two days ago, it seems that has been the site for most of the packet losses. Yesterday I didn't have problems, two days ago, I couldn't stay on for 5 minutes with a D/C..
Hope that helps.. I can run it some more if you'd like CCP Spitfire.. But having read this, a bit surprised you said it was on my end..
Anyhow, with my regards!

Any updates on progress with this issue? Thread was opened almost 2 weeks ago...
From my own testing, Pingplotter isn't really showing anything indicative of a routing issue when the disconnect happens, and I've had multiple accounts logged in on the same PC, only to have one of them drop connection while the other is unaffected (issue is present regardless of which account used btw). Unfortunately I've been unable to test if this happens on SiSi due to it basically being unavailable the past few days (no big... holidays happen).
I'm not losing connectivity to any other services, nor are there any security solutions enabled on my pc or router (SPI is disabled) that would cause this type of behavior. Clearing the cache did nothing to resolve.
Is this actually something related to the last update pushed out? I've never had issue with rubberbanding or DC's that weren't connection related prior to the last patch...
If this issue is related to a client problem, then I'll take the time to set up logging on mine, but not going to bother if you guys are still blaming routing.

Has this been looked at at all ? Because I have the same exact problems with disconnects every 10 minutes and according to pingplotter results the problem is in London. I don't even use router and my ISP does not filter traffic so that is not the problem.
The dc's started happening after the patch, regardless if I have 1 or 2 clients open or what I am doing inside the game. First time this is happening after 5 years in EVE. Meet you on the other side^^ |

I've submitted a petition myself with pingplotter and dxdiag info attached. As it's been a short while I don't expect a reply just yet. Strangely enough, I've had one client running now for over an hour while I do other things to see what would happen. Only thing I did was clear my cache using the in-game tab. Keeping the petition open for now as this event seems to be hit and miss ever since Incursion has gone live.

Today I've been unable to connect to the game from home and ALSO to see the website. I'm not 100% sure what the problem was, but I noticed a lot of other sites were not reachable. My best analysis is that something has gone very wrong within KPN routing (I had a lot of traceroutes dying past some address within eurorings.net, including traceroutes to KPN sites!!).
Most sites are now visible again. But EVE is not. It seems to me that anything CCP is not reachable at all. It goes to mla-s1-rou-1003.it.eurorings.net and then I only get a sequence of * * *.
Could it be that someone in KPN forgot to fix the planck bubble stabilizer that takes care of the BGP configuration for AS35834 ?
Fortunately I have an office that uses another provider (and I'm the server administrator there, so ... VPN tunneling it is for today.

Since last patch, randomly, 1, 2, 3 or all 4 get disconnected. Same hardware, same isp, diferent patch. Love the new stuff, but getting disconnected just "because" its frustrating. If this persist i will eventually need to quit eve.

Looking at several forums, it is obvious that there is a new problem since the deployment of Incursion 1.1.0. I have entered a bug report according to the format specified and info required, I also filed a petition but have not yet received a reaction to any. It seems that CCP is quite busy these days. I am also using multiple characters with multiple screens and multiple graphic cards. All that worked well until... Incursion 1.1.0 patch. (Using Vista 64, but I see other have the same problem with Win7-64) After that...very random client crashes. Tried loading the graphics, unloading, changing parametres etc. Nothing changes, it is still random and not at the same time (for the different concurrent clients). Once it is one character, sometimes the other etc. Now trying to play with one character and although the crashes occur less frequently, they still occur and...randomly. Basically I have not been able to play since Incurion 1.1.0 patch deployment. There are several bugs which can always happen of course, but I believe that the hardware ones not allowing players to play should be tackled first. If we know there are bugs or where they are, players can eventually play around them until CCP fixes them, but if we can't play...it is another issue... Please help us... we are lost in space...

sry, I meant instead of "the hardware ones": "possible hardware related ones or OS etc."
