Hey all, I'm just back from work and I can't find anything on the forums about the new-look Minnie tattoos...
I saw them this morning on the PC Gamer add that CCP posted on Facebook, with loads of comments on the pic. Not very many about the tattoos.
Personally, I really like them.
The (faded?) look to them surprised me, but yeah.. They're great, and I'd love it if CCP could confirm that this pic's a hint that they've got it working......

Edited by: MotherMoon on 14/12/2010 20:05:28 Well according to fanfest, there will be sliders for age of your tattoos. Also they will be placeable anywhere you want. With unlimited alpha maps. (fanfest could e outdated as well all know:P)
so you can make it look faded, or make it look like you still need to put Vaseline on it everyday. Which is awesome, and hopefully puts some of your fears to rest.
As far as I was aware they were going to leave tattoos out this release, if this is true, it would be messed up as once again ccp will be cutting a major feature (treaties, Population control, 5th subsystems) in order to meet a deadline.
However if the pic they posted means tattoos are in, that would be a break through! I would very much welcome something that I consider necessary to character creation in an mmo about pirates. :P

Edited by: Charoline De''Lanari on 14/12/2010 20:05:43 My thoughts are, when Incarna comes out, will your skin be different after you are podded and enter a new clone, like in the Empyrean age, where the Broker is described having unnaturally smooth, baby-like skin
Also, old looking tatoos on a new clone, sounds weird, but hey, that's just me :) I just hope i can keep dressing in clear plastic wrap

FFS what Moron in marketing decided that statement was a good idea?
Also if people are reading with agreement, word of advise .... quit the game and get a real life.

I could be wrong but I think that falls under the category of humour. Maybe something you should have more of by the sounds of your post.
It gave me a chuckle anyway.

Well personally I thought "character creator" was a bit over the top for "new avatar portrait editor" too ..

Well, I have to admit that although I take that tag-line with a certain degree of humour; when I saw it this morning most of my brain screamed, 'nooooo.......wtf? oh, ffs..!!'
But then I got back to checking out the tattoos... If they do end up with a slider to control their 'age' that'd be pretty interesting, but I'm wondering now whether it's going to be a case of :
You can tattoo your shoulder, or... You can tattoo both shoulders, if you like, but not differently, or You can tattoo your face but forget your shoulders, and definitely no-chance your arms... or Go for it, tattoo the lot, if you like.
We may be getting the character/portrait creator back at the weekend (perhaps/maybe) but it'd be good to get some info...
Anything you'd like to see, in the tattoo department?

I admit that it could have been intended as a ironic statement, in the same sense of the eve meme "Internet spaceships is serious business!". However if it is, it fails abysmally.
I would say, trying to treat that statement as intentionally funny is crediting way to much to the muppet in marketing who thought it up.

Geez, talk about putting everyone to shame. CCP should have pulled a google and snapped up the game's technology when the company died.

TO be fair, CCP did seem to say they wanted to go the same route as APB. But they said that at fanfest 2 years ago, and well... you know ccp:P
they said something about unlimited alpha maps, so you could have like 100 scars if you really wanted *like in APB*
However, I don't think would ever have draw your own tattoos like APB... which is a shame:( because you could actually make a professional out of that in APB. your "class" could really just be, tattoo artist.
So eve MIGHT be half of what APB was as far as tattoos go.
but if CCP went all the way, and let us draw our own alpha maps and tattoo ourselves anywhere we wanted. and then sell said tattoos in game.
I would never play another mmo game again.

APB was really great for it's character editor, the amount of things you could customise or create were insane. Of course though it had pretty bad drawbacks, the main one being that the characters in the editor would become less detailed in the game, for example the glasses my character wore would appear without the frame. It was a little off putting.
The ability to tattoo however was really cool, and the other customise options. For example in the pic above, the colours, logos, designs, every bit of that was either made completely from scratch or customised by me. The tattoos and STARS logo in particular, even the police decal and camo design.
But still the Incarna character editor is awesome, not as customisable, although that's really nice in keeping the racial lines unique. It also has a lot of potential to expand in other areas and has the best graphics of any character creator I've ever seen. Which could potentially be for a while according to the devblogs, with the future proofing.
Now... APB editor customisation ability with EVE editor look, style and graphics? That would be my God, it's full of stars territory.

I'd like to be able to get good tattoos, unfortunatly we'll probably just be left with "sick as tribals" and terribad face pieces.
If I could design my own tattoos, get my self a hellokitty sleve or the like I'd be a much happier lady.

APB did have an easily reachable alpha limit, which you could break without warning at which point your tattoos would randomly start to disappear. I'm expecting CCP to do a much better job.
