Well, it's not like there's much of a choice, with eve-metrics going "out of business". Have any better alternatives ? Would love to hear about it. _

^ Yes I'd love to hear of another website that isn't '****' that also has XML API for developers to use.

And everybody knows that it's not perfect. The question was, do you have a BETTER alternative ? Because if EC is the best or only option, it doesn't exactly matter much just how not-good it is. _

Have to agree there... After reading the announcement of eve-metrics' demise I checked out the eve-central api. I decided it was easier to write my own app. I may have to click a few hundred items to refresh my cache, but it is easier than getting accurate prices from eve-central.

More importantly, can somebody replicate the awesome eve-metrics functionality of the "autobrowser" to let me cache the entire market with the click of a button and a little time afk?

You don't HAVE to, but it would be nice for whoever else reads the thread and has a similar question. I know I don't have a better answer, but you sound as if you do, so not answering could make you look a tiny bit douchy _

Try this http://en.jitonomic.com/ I like the clean interface and the loyalty store listing.
New site that popped (I think) fairly recently, and someone seem making an effort in-game to advertise it. I'm not sure how good is the site in comparison with eve-central/eve-metrics as I'm just a bystander (for the moment ).

Is there another site that calculates profitable trade routes for you? Because that's the purpose for which I've been using EVE-Central. I upload a bunch of market exports on high volume items in a couple of regions and then allow EVE-Central to figure out if there's any money to be made hauling. It's nice to have an application to calculate ISK/jump and total ISK. For me, it's very reliable, but I'd be willing to have a look at any other application with similar functionality.

Oh nom nom nom nom nom. That site is awesome. Searching by trade hub is sweet. Prices look very reliable when compared to ingame but they are only updated once a day. That's accurate enough for me. It doesn't have the api features that eve-metrics did so I cannot plug the data into my spreadsheets (at least I don't think I can do it on that site) but that site looks pretty cool. - It's not "Play through a pre-set story, become stronger, do endgame". Gameplay is open ended, and you make your own story. Unless you're too afraid of 'pvp grief' to do anything relevant |

The problem is: with more and more EC/EM like sites, data upload by players gets spread out, making the data at/for a single site more sparse = more unreliable.
As for jitonomic.com, I've looked into integrating that data into EWA, but refrained from doing so as the terms didn't sound right to me. -- EVEWalletAware - an offline wallet manager |

ok. seems that eve-central is back to normal. people started updating things.
my life makes sense now. thanks for everyone support.
in my opinion, eve-central is by far, the best price check that you can have for regular items. It just need a image re-re-re-re-remake.
jitonomic and others.... are quite web.2 like(which is great), but they lack in xml api tools integration like central offer.
if you want to make marketing for your own apps like central. get a way get price updates easier than central, create and document all forms of API xml integration. i think the main goal in this area.... is to set a common item price database for you all. if that happens, the world will evolve carmo

That site was being spammed in Jita local by bots a few months ago. It was fairly obvious they were bots because few, if any, real players would include a timestamp down to milliseconds in their ads.
So I would be really careful about using it.

It's also a website that has all its data uploaded by bots (and smart bots that somehow manage to extract contract data from memory)
and owner's goal is to try to make the site popular and then probably make membership cost some ISK

or use it to build a database of things people are interested in/trade, like shady Domain Registrars that register domain in the background after you checked them.

EC is not for the day-trader; it's too slow and the data is not reliable beyond making sure you didn't overpay when buying something in 0.0 imo. When I found EM, it was as if a beam of light from the heavens struck my monitor whilst my Foobar was stuck on choral music. But then I read that the creator of EM was calling it quits and after a long period of RABBLE RABBLE, I started to look for a replacement.
I have been off eve-central for about 9 months, has anything changed? Has anybody found a replacement for EM? Has someone considered hacking into EM and stealing all their files? Please only use one image per signature. Zymurgist |

Btw. why can't we get such information from CCP instead of 3rd party sites like EM? It's not very logical that a highly developed society isn't able to collect data and merge them into usable results. And it's not logical that we as customers should build web sites to get the right data, because the information is already at CCP servers.
So my proposal is instead to search for a 3rd party site to put this discussion into the Assembly Hall.

It's for the same reason we can't mod the client, we have cancel order without confirmation and so on: CCP gives a super raw thing, we make of it and its contents what we want and we face "fairly distributed" challenges, timesinks and pitfalls. Everything made by them is an influence on the players, the less they affect gameplay and natural flow of things the more sandboxy is the whole game. - Auditing & consulting
