Edited by: Torquemada Credo on 15/12/2010 15:06:27 Zedrik Cayne, IEEE CEO during this time of war between your corp and our alliance (and the downtime imposed by the latest update) Ive been reading the forums. Imagine my surprise and amusement to find a post by your good self which amounts to a confession to your complicity in a breach of Standards and Practice Document Id #223.646.377 Section #1 to wit: ̣Using un-secured temporary storage while mining is prohibited. The practice is commonly referred to as 'jet can mining' and while convenient, is inherently dangerous. The presence of high security 'can flippers' and other thieves can result in the loss of your hard work along with the possibility of the destruction of your ship, and very rarely your pod.
Text of confession found here: http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1082214
To all you hard working members of Standards and Practice I feel for you, to find that no less than your leader is guilty of a flagrant abuse of the standards you all work so hard to bring to community at large are not only being broken by your leader, but that he also seems to take some joy in advertising his double standards (no pun intended), must be galling for you all.
Although, unlike your selfs I hesitate to interfere in the internal running of other corps or alliances, I think in this case may I suggest some form of internal review/witch hunt.

Dear Torquemada Credo,
We are grateful to you in your quest to uphold good standards and practices, and appreciate your attempts to bring to our attention things that might seem like a breach of good standards and practices.
While it may appear that our CEO, Zedrik Cayne, may have allegedly engaged in such practices, we here at the IEEE want to do our best to assure you that no matter what it takes, we will be here to protect New Eden from such flagrant violations as jet-can mining. And sometimes, protecting New Eden from those requires a bit more from our officers: sometimes we must look to be what we are trying to stop. And this may be misconstrued as us violating our own standards and practices, while we are actually doing our best to stop them.
Please rest assured that our CEO and lead agent will stop at nothing to protect you, the citizens of New Eden, from bad standards and practices. The cost of failure is too high not to.

I beleive jet can mining is approved if you have a BC standing by to engage can flippers, as this adds a measure of security to normally unsecured cargo containers. By providing such a service, Mr. Cayne was in fact enforcing proper standards and practices.

ITT OP scours Zedrik's forum history looking for dirt and posts a bad thread with a link to thread worth reading with some terrible fake roleplaying as a thin mask for his butthurt.

As primary Investigator in this case (though not Senior Clerk) I feel obilged to say something about this.
To cover the first point, I believe the above quoted Standard applies to "Using un-secured temporary storage while mining", not "Using un-secured temporary storage while conducting an investigation". It is well within the remit of the IEEE to use the methods of those we seek to bring to justice in the pursuit of justice. To disallow this would put far more pilots in jeopardy through lax standards. I would ask Mr. Credo if he thinks that the police should refrain from dealing drugs or posing as prostitutes in the pursuit of their duties?
Secondly, I applaud Mr. Credo in his interest in continued attempts to promote good practise amoungst the population of New Eden. Have you ever considered a career change? There are many Alliances whose operations are tighter, more secure, more profitable and better run than TRIBE seems to be. Plus the IEEE is always interested in considering applications from those with a keen interest in the improvement of standards throughout the universe.
Thank you for your letter.
Regards,
Sir Damien McCandless OBE, MBE, MD, IDST

Dear Sir and/or Madam,
In response to your initial request, I, Triple Entendre, professor of Mad Bastardry, decided to launch an in-depth and independent inquiry into the situation at hand regarding the mysterious IEEE CEO.
After a long and detailed period of investigation, it would appear you are correct in your assumption. Our findings when performing this inquiry agree with yours entirely that the Standards and Practices (IEEE) CEO is, indeed, named Zedrik Cayne.
Normally, I would send an invoice for an investigation of such depth, but in this case I am inclined to suggest that the fee is donated to the IEEE corporate account as they work hard to keep you safe and free from the rampant asshattery that plagues New Eden.
We at Emergence Inc. would like to thank you for using our service and we hope this answered any questions about the aforesaid corporation and/or members.
-Prof. Triple Entendre.
