Edited by: Erty on 16/01/2005 05:54:11 I've been thinking about patches and stuff, and it all feels much slower than before. In beta it was like WRROOOM, 100 bugfixes and balances in one day. It was pretty fast during 2003 too, and lots of devblogs and that kind of stuff. Now it's all much slower and I see fewer (and totally different) devs replying on the forum. And testing feels pretty much dead, #eve-chaos is dead, no FC and no events on tq etc.
Compared to during the pre-release development of the game, how many devs are there? Did CCP let any devs go after the development? Or are they all still with CCP, if so what are they doing now? Feels like it's all Oveour doing devblogs which by the way are very few nowadays.
Edit: hmm that sounded very negative, not intended. Just wanna now how the situation is x)

im sure the patches will pickup after the january patch and they have said FC will come back very soon they just need to fix the major bugs on tq first

I think most of those people are tech support and some maintenance people
from the amount of progress that actually happens, looks like they got 2 programmers, maybe 2 artists, and 2 design people who work part time :-)

How many devs they havn't is irrelevant. How much productive code they generate is.
And right now, the answer is "not enough". They're too busy trying to excite people with vague promises of Titans and dreadnaughts to work on bugfixes.

I can see why you've used an alt to post this, it's so retarded. ------------------------------------------

Nah I'm mostly curious about how it is compared to before and where the people who worked on the game before are now and so on.

i would hate to be the devs really, can never please anyone. people want bug fixes, people want new things that cause bugs, people do nothing but whine on the forums about the lack of work from the devs. maybe it's time to give them a break!

Plus Im sure they have some ppl working on the next expansion already... They even said at one point they continue developing the current version and the future expansion one at the same time.. ( or at least thats how I understood it). They must have some1 working on those planetary landscapes... You just have to get used to being spoon-fed :P GL.

from what i understand:
You got the developers (coders)
like LekJart, Hellmar, Fuhry, lickspittle, Major Gormor, Froggy, Zrakor, l1n3n01z, Papa Smurf, Redundancy of the top of my head with specialists like Red Button who handles the server hardware/software and t20 who is the web dude.
Then you got the Design team:
Oveur, TomB, Hammerhead, Gnauton do content and i think you got specialist like RealX for music, t0rfi, Porkbelly for art
In all of that you got the QA people like Valar and thats about as many as I can think of (the forum active ones anyway) Probably many more who dont post here and havent been added to my list over time.
sorry to any dev i forgot!

You forget that these people complaining pay for this game and an acceptable level of service. SO they do have right to an opinion rightly or wrongly
We all know CCP's customer service sucks but they are a young company with limited resurces so I try to keep my patience
We are cursed men

yup - all ccp staff get the ccp dev badge bar kieron afiak. I was trying to distinquish between the 'coders' and the 'content/gameplay/design' team who dont code but do things like design ships and stats for all items, npc attributes and so on.
I could be wrong though..

Alot of work tends to go into making games, and it's hard to just change one thing without it having effects etc.
they simply can't go at the same pace they were when they were in the crunch period pre-release... the team would end up being dead by about 6 months done the line.

and then there are things like implants, that devs admit should be offered more often by agents. How hard is it to increase their offer rates? and to lower offer requirements? 30 minutes at most, maybe 5 minutes for someone who knows what to do right away.
