Q: How does this affect my attributes?
A: After the change you will be given 12 attribute points in each attribute. This means the default attributes will be 20/20/20/20/19 with Charisma being the 19.
This is taken from the CCP sticky topic located here
So why is my base for each attribute 17?

BECAUSE OF FALCONAlso, the 20/20/20/20/19 includes the default remap

This is a known issue and they are workign on it.

I see, so to get the stated attributes, we include remapable points. I am not really complaining, my training speeds are the same as before, i just feel this could have been made a little clearer.

17/17/17/17/17 is correct for existing characters.
20/20/20/20/19 is the default setting for new characters.
14 points available to remap, and you could make it 20/20/20/20/19 yourself.
Base that can't be remapped would be 17/17/17/17/17 (5/5/5/5/5 pre-patch.. add 12 to each of that?)

It's the addition of numbers. If that confuses you, EVE really isn't for you.

Your totally right, almost 5 years in and am just discovering this. Thanks for your advice, i guess this is now a 'i want your stuff thead'.

Why do I have 100 base points? Looks like I'll lose that extra point if I ever remap too.

wait what? you've got just as many points as everyone else if you remap.
as achura though, if your old enough, and you never remap, you will have a sick amount of perception that is impossible to attain.
by what logic is "achura get the shaft" true?
