Hi,
Since I got bored with L4 missions and I thought that giving the L5 ones a try would be interesting. I got the appropriate social skills to V with the SP refund and I hear that these missions give a ton a loyalty points.
As I am a bit paranoid about losing my ship I don't want to bring pimped or faction ships to low sec. Instead I plan to come in a T2 fitted Maelstrom and support it with a Guardian with cap transfers for neut towers. I'd consider a logi with shield transfer, but that would force me to train another racial cruiser to V with my alt.
The question is - will it be feasable and also profitable compared to L4s? Or am I just better off getting my alt in a sentry ishtar and just support my main in L4 missions for better profit?

indeed lvl 5's give nice lp. I've not done many but the ones i did do ranged from 65k lp to 90k lp. The isk rewards are not much better than lvl 4's. Damage wise they are not too tough to tank. I used a single rep paladin (centus c-type - 990 rep per cycle) Have also used a passive nighthawk. The biggest problem with the lvl 5 missions are the neut towers!! they will empty ur cap in a heartbeat!
If you can manage to get cap back into ur ship then u should be ok. Downside of lvl 5's is that they are in low sec. You will leave urself open to being probed down and ganked by pirates. Ofc you can keep an eye on ur scanner but i find the inconvenience of having to warp off if they get a sensor hit on you to be too much. ofc you could wait them out and return but there is always the chance they bm'd the spot and are waiting for you to return.
I roughed out a fit on eft. You would need mission specific hardners and most likely a low cap usage large or xl booster. The rest could be t2. 1st target would be the neut towers ofc.
I personally went back to lvl 4 missions as they were easier to tank while being unprobeable and take less time to complete.
its all about risk/reward with lvl 5's.

I've been toying with the idea of doing some level 5s. Was thinking of organising a small corp gang to try one out.
You mention that you went back to level 4s as they are easier to tank and faster to complete, but that 50-60k LP sounds very profitable.
Is a +5 not like 60k LP + 60mil and sold for around 110mil? So, 50mil + bounties + rewards + salvage + loot per mission? Surely that's about 4 or 5 level 4s worth?
The neuts and carriers are what concern me. With an active tank obviously I need me cap. DPS to take down a carrier is probably going to be fairly high even for a couple of Domi's and a few flights of T2 heavy drones. Yes/No?

I'm not sure where the 60m comes from, are you wondering if this is the mission reward? If so, no, it's not. The rewards is a few million. The salvage/loot can be worth a ton. I especially like hoovering up the tags.
Not all of them have neuts, but I'd say about 85-90% of them do, so yes, they are a concern. Not many of them have carriers, but they spawn about 6 waves of fighters as you take the carrier out. And allowing the fighters to accrue can be rough.
With a small team (I use 3 alts), some (non-blitzing) can be done in 20 minutes. 75k LP for 20 mins work isn't bad.
The thing with L4s is that you need to batter them out a tremendous rate to make decent isk. With 5s you can take your time, watch a movie at the same time, etc. It's far more leisurely. Suggestion: Remove the "new topic" button from everywhere apart from the list of topics section within a subforum.
That'd save those with chronic hand/eye coordination some face. |

60mil comes from the LP store, from memory to buy a +5 implant worth 110mil (ish).
60k LP + 60mil = 1 +5 implant.
Might be off by a few 10s of mils though im in work, can't log in to check :)

Oh ok, that's not a tremendous way to spend LP, but I get what you mean. Try 1 out on the test server, sure makes a change from 4s, which I'll never go back to. Suggestion: Remove the "new topic" button from everywhere apart from the list of topics section within a subforum.

i gave up collecting loot and salvaging along time ago coz i kept getting probed out. I use unprobeable tengu now. I still collect all the tags as they are indeed worth having.
Don't get me wrong, the prospect of ~50m profit for one mission is quite nice. Thats if everything goes smoothly ofc. Like i said, i went back to lvl 4's. I still do them, they are a breeze. I usually watch films while i do them too lol. Blitzing is a quick way through the missions. I've got nasty missions like gone berkerk and the blockade down to about 10mins give or take worth of work. Usually get about 12000 lp for those. agreed it will take me longer to build up my isk and lp but i think with all the messing about on lvl 5's, there's probably not too much in it.

The Lp of Level 5's are really nice, but are all missions in low sec now? Cause i remember there used to be few in high sec.

all lvl 5 agents are yeah. there is the remote chance you might get a mission to high sec but its very slim. i actually had a lvl 4 take me to high sec last night. first time in about 6 months lol

If u wanna go cheap, you will be better with full passive tanked drake with proper shield resistance amplifiers as tank, and maelstrom with one Shield Transporter (to be used just in case drakes tank cannot hold on its own). Drake will do around 400 dps, and maelstrom can dish enough dps while still having enough tank to hold agro from additional waves.
