Hello there,
I usually do missions (L4) in gallente space with the Garoun Investment Bank, but recently i wanted to do missions for the Caldari Navy in Caldari's space. However I was a bit surprised by missions against guristas ( 80% of the missions ) like on World's collide, ... ( some big mish' ) I use to be jammed by the guristas really really often, and now it starts to bother me a bit. I wonder how can other people do to get rid of all of the jamm' things during guristas mish'. If somebody can enlightened me I'll be pleased.
P.S : I'm running L4 with [Tengu, PVE] Caldari Navy Ballistic Control System Caldari Navy Ballistic Control System Caldari Navy Ballistic Control System Power Diagnostic System II

If you're running against Guristas, which do almost all Kinetic damage, why do you have an EM Ward Field and an Invulnerability Field? Basically, you just need to get rat-specific hardeners (2x Kinetic) and fit a Gravimetric ECCM module in the mids instead of one of the SBAs. |

I know it's not what you'll want to hear but I think NPC-Jams (or Gurista in this case) have infinite power and can't really be avoided. (Please say if that's not the case - ECCM has never entirely stopped jamming in my experience)
As for a workaround, either kill the jamming ships first. Keep a note of which ships are jamming you and make sure you hit them first when you get a mission again.
I believe eve-survival mission guides list any jamming NPC's so that might be a useful help as well. |

I'm not sure what the best method to handling jammers is with a Tengu, other than maybe trading one mid-slot for a gravimetric ECCM module (as suggested above) and throwing as much alpha damage at the jamming ship(s) as you can. (For the Guristas, your're also best off firing Scourges, because Guristas have a kinetic weakness, and it also feeds to the Tengu's bonus strength with the Accelerated Ejection Bay.)
My technique with a Maelstrom against Guristas has been to fit 1400's for maximum alpha damage, send my drones against jammers whenever possible, and trade one tank slot for ECCM. Of course, a Maelstrom's a different beast from a Tengu. |

You're massively overtanked. Drop the second Shield Boost Amplifier for an ECCM Module. You can easily tank most missions sitting still with one SBA, and all the rest if you pop the web Frigates early and Orbit something.
Keep the EM hardener if you can. That's got a chance of saving you against a Tornado gank. With an ECCM you'll very rarely get jammed in a Tengu. |

The fit that I posted was just to show what my tengu looks like, don't worry I know when i have to change the hardeners type
I know that my fit is a bit overtanked but I like to be perfectly safe in my tengu in case of internet problems, ... I don't really wanna lose that ship However I think I'll try to drop one SBA for ECCM. |

That's my vs. Guristas Tengu fit. TBH, the ECCM can be completely removed in favor of an SBA II for additional tank because jamming is nearly a non-issue at this point. With the DPS you'll be properly pumping out with this fit, you should be able to smoke the jamming rats fast - just make sure you know your targets. The 4th BCS is key to get proper DPS out of your HML Tengu, but don't bother with a 4th CN BCS because 2.5% additional missile damage minus stacking penalty means that the difference between a BCS II and a CN BCS is something like 6 DPS - save the ~90M and go T2 instead.
With proper skills and implants, this fit can be permarun and missions/sites can be cleared on near autopilot. Just clear the tackle frigs first (monitor transversal velocity on your overview to time your shots), followed by jammers and then burn the rest down. Look back at the screen every 20-30 seconds and hit F1 and lock new targets. |

you are in a tengu, get some fof missiles and semi afk your missions!
and in all the guristas missions I've run lately they almost never jam me. well except for in the assault where there are a few annoying elite cruisers that love to jam, but you don't even have to aggro them to complete the mission. |

NPC-jams are NOT infinite and the advice earlier in the thread about using modules that increase sensor strength is very good.
The nature of ECM dictates however that you're never immune to jams, but with higher sensor strength you can go from being permajammed in each mission to maybe have 1 jam on you every 5 missions. |

Thanks for clearing that up. |
