I recently reactivated my account using the free 5-day offer. Eager to spend some of my leftover points from the now removed learning skills, I decided to do a level 3 Serpentis Extravaganza mission. I warped in with my slow Dominix, and I remembered again why I stopped playing. For some reason, NPC ships are put at like an 80-85 km range as opposed to my max. 70 km range, and at OPPOSITE directions, which coupled with my 100 m/s speed, just made the first mission in months a very tedious one. Is it really necessary to put these mobs so far apart?

Fit a sensor booster and you'll be able to lock them

He got World's Collide. That is one of the only missions where the npcs start that far out.

Thats a lie. I did lvl3 Serpentis Extravaganza last night, and I killed everything by kiting, everything came within 60km and died. My max target range is 60km, and my missile range is about 70km, and they still all lined up to die.
No NPC in any mission stays at 80km.

You are mistaken, sir. One example would be Worlds Collide (lvl 4, Angels vs Sansha) where you warp in at 130km to both sides. Also within many missions the groups are hanging at ranges over 80km, an example would be the Assault (Guristas) again lvl 4, where in the second room a small fleets hangs at 90km from warp in.
I could go on and on --- I think violence in games only causes violence in real life if the person in question has an insufficient mental capacity to deal with the real world in the first place |

Nope, World's Collide is exactly that annoying at level 4.
When you first warp into the War Zone, you are a fair distance from the 2 gates, and the ships are a good bit past the gates, and will run maintain a goodly distance---without an AB it takes a really long time just to unlock a gate.
Once you are inside the mission, most of the rats don't run further than about 57km. But that outside area is a serious pain--they seriously should look at MWD in that mission.

Using a sensor booster and an omnidirectional tracking link in place of 2 t2 cap rechargers didn't really work out since the loss of infinite repair owned me, so I decided to just go with the long range targeting skill which I recently found out existed.

You will be able to use MWD in all missions after the next patch.

No, but think of it this way...
Mission running can be equated to 'fish in a barrel'. Once you get a good solid mission runner, the isk pours in, especially if you salv your wrecks.
If you'd like to try other methods of isk making, feel free to try (after appropriate research). You'll almost certaily make the most isk with missions.

Am I hearing people rather want to be put right in the middle of the rat group, getting web and war scrambled immediately and torn to shreds by auto-cannons and blasters?
