Sorry to ask the obvious question, but I've been away and logged on to find Sansha storylines bouncing around + this Echelon ship and hacking module in my hangar. Am I missing out on something or is this a gift to be used in the future?
And as this is the official forums - contain your sarcasm please .

Supposedly, it's for hacking. But in reality it's just a free gift that looks nice in your hanger.

I'm guessing there will be some use for it after the Sansha incursion happens.

Yet another nice ship model dumped in a worthless collector item. Maybe it gets resurrected like the Primae has with the Noctis. Nobody knows. The mystical master of CCP's resource allocation is not to be fathomed by us.

Yup, supposedly just for hacking Archaeology sites, but the ship lacks any sort of capability to FIND said sites or fight inside them, so it looks to be pretty useless. So we're assuming it'll be some sort of roleplay or plot device; people have been activating that module on other player ships and have been getting some strange error messages, although that could just be poor coding by CCP (nothing new).
There was a thread around here talking about what you get if you reprocess that module, twice.
As the DM would say during a pen-and-paper gaming session, "the plot thickens."

Well... the t2 counterpart it better, it gives a 7% chance / level opposed to a 5% / level and the ship has NO bonuses whatsoever for hacking, besides the ability to use the module...

to keep in your hangers stacked up forever...
figuring out the right fit and getting accustomed to taking advantage of it doesn't make much sense for an item you can't get more of.
I wish the effort designing it went into figuring out a more fair and smooth remap gift. I really could have used one on my characters that didn't recieve one (maybe I can buy one with isk? no scratch that some players got up in a tizzy on that one)
There might be something the ship can do that others can't.. i'll keep reading to figure it out.. might be useful if given to a disposable no sp alt.

It's a collectors item. Well, it will be in a few years.

No gank, little tank and only one slot so it can fit a T1 codebreaker that wonĘt fit any other ship. ItĘs intended for new players who want to try their hand at hacking.
ItĘs a collectorĘs item that makes an ideal target for suicide gankers and rat boys.
