I would like to know who is making up these absurd prices for all the faction items ?
Are they really that rare, that the only ones being able to outfit their ships to the max are the billionaires in the game ?
I have respect for all the rich people in the game, because they probably worked hard to get where they are, or just got lucky in the lottery or something else but ...
It seems that eve is becoming more and more like real life ... The rich get richer and the rest is left behind. The gap between the two is getting bigger and bigger since the release of Exodus.

The gap is getting bigger because you have very experienced players who can make about 200 million an hour if they work hard and they are power gamers as well.
while the less experienced players aren't power gamers and don't have the brains/guts to take risks.

Edited by: Rexy on 16/01/2005 23:16:49 with a bit of skill it's fairly easy to amass a lot of isk. the availebilety of faction or officer loot is very limited, but very wanted by everybody because they are better then t2 modules. combine high demand and people with isk willing to shell out => expensive faction stuff. But you dont need those to succeed in eve.

For now, yes, that is a very profitable exercise. But, if I know CCP, that trend will come to an abrupt end as the next purple monkey is released that everyone wants. __________________________________________________

i never ceased to be amazed that no only is there real economic demand for stuff like WHOA I PLAY THIS TOTALLY AWESOME GAME AND I GAT 10.2% not 10% L33t
people are not only willing to spend hours and hours of their lives in the pursuit of these things, they post on the message boards saying they should be entitled to them!
why?

Wealth in game is a matter of three factors:
Time invested: Folks who spend more time focused on money in game make more money. Thats life. Other folks can also make money, but never as much if all other details are equal.
Skills: Good skills always affect income. Better rat hunting, faster hauling, bigger haulers, better at trading, etc...
Common sense: Accepting reality and dealing with it.

My guess would be, this inflation is caused by the massive influx of money into the game caused by lvl 4 agent missions..

Inflation exists only when money available in an economy grows faster than goods available to be purchased.
However...
there are also some other details. The types of goods are also a factor.
My own oppinion: There is more isk in Eve, and also plenty of high use goods to absorb that isk, however, some rare items remain as rare as before, or even rarer, and in these cases inflation is dramatic. The inflation folks talk of is of rare goods.

My personal mantras? sorry.
Palpatine dialogue from the next StarWars movie? nope.
These are quotes from the box EVE comes in. Space is a harsh place. There are no lawyers in space.
Yes, eve is like real life. Thats whats so great about it. One universe, one free (semi)global market. If you want a rare item, you are going to have to pay the owners price. period.
Get over it.

meowcat's second-best rule of ship fitting.
never fit the best item.
the difference in price between the best item and the second best is disproportionately large when compared to the qualitative difference between the actual attributes of the items.
i've lost quite a few ships, and killed a few too... never has the outcome been close enough for this to make a difference ~~~~)\~~~~~\o/~~~~

as long as you can make enough money to fly the ships in which you have fun and so can your corp buddies i wouldnt worry too much..........even the guys out in deep 0.0 taking on 5-6mill rats dont always get these uber drops so its just a question of being in the right place at the right time also factor in there's a point you reach isk wise where you more or less become very secure and here is when you see your wealth climb quickly as you take bigger risks npc ratting or just on production scale because you are able to mass market produce and then wait for the iskies to come in at a steady flow......on the uber mods front you can then go hunt for them yourself or buy as by this time your sales allow you to splash out on the odd item.........patience is the key having everything now makes for a dull day as you have no next goal to aim for

Experience counts for a lot. I may not have a lot of money to my name, but having played the game since launch I have a great deal of experience and know, if willing, where I can apply myself to make money.
Just the other day I was fishing through escrow and I saw 5 run bpc of a certain T2 item for 5 mil. I picked it up and built the 5 items at a cost of 2 mil each (including the bpc price). I managed to sell them for 7 mil each. Not bad for one hour of getting the bpc and components together.
But it works both ways, sometimes you research something and when you roll out your product for sale you get the shaft. Back when projectiles actually worked I made decent sums of money from my Typhoon BPO. The bpo did pay for itself but since the projectile nerf I have the feeling that Armageddon and even Megapulse BPO holders made more money than I will ever see.
The way to get ahead and really rich in this game is to score a T2 bpo from a research agent. You can then either cash out or start your business, but I recommend the latter. T2 manufacturers have such a strong monopoly that I can say, without a doubt, that most T2 manufacturers make no less than 90-100% profit on the items they sell. |

i was flying my crow with 7 mil in me wallet and a true sansha warp scrambler and web fitted...i lost ships twice while one or the other was fitted and got them back on both occasions, i still have them, now they aint fitted and i lose crows nearly everyday fighting FA, funny contrast is i scooped a hawk bpo from research the other day sold it bought 2 bs bpo's and i still wouldnt risk those items against FA as they r too good to lose to the likes of them. but these items never depreciate, keep your eye on the escrow and you Will find them at reasonable if not cheap for a quick sale prices....careful i dont see em first though i know their value they give you the edge in combat but combat is so unpredictable your better off keeping them til you go for a hauler sting mission some quiet night when your sure they will survive
