Hey CCP,
As a final Christmas gift, could you add some code that shunts suspected macro mine/rat/mission/market/PI fellas over to one of the test servers with an AI run market and local? Would be interesting to see just how many would keep on farming with no gains until it is time to transfer the isks on to their laundering alts, whom would then be somewhat easier to track down I'd expect.

Do what CCCP do; nothing.
Go about your business, anything else is a waste of time.
Thanks.

Edited by: Corozan Aspinall on 25/12/2010 12:54:14 By my reckoning approximately 1/5th of all active players are 'automated'.
That's ~ 10, 000 out of the 50k or so online at peak time.
I'd say, given the way EvE has evolved, thats a pretty manageable figure. I don't for a second think CCP doesn't consider the roi:maintaining control ratio very carefully and will act when/if their business interests are threatened. Until then? Better the devil you know.
I'm far more concerned about the explosion of cap ship'itis personally.
Also, I know its inevitible, but, the concentration of wealth in the hands of a few people/alliances is also a little worrying.
Above all of these concerns and way way out in front of macros, for me, is the sludge/nap fest. If people are not given a reason to fight each other and there is no 'third man' to threaten even the established and entrenched alliances, then EvE is going to get very dull. Market stagnant/cornered, production of most sub cap ships and mods relatively unprofitable, resource harvesting squeezed by macros and undermined by faucets in wh and null; unprofitable. Nobody to shoot other than for the sake of it and the back end unable to support fleet engagements making everyone risk averse etc.
I think people are getting all het up about bots because they need an obvious target for their frustrations about the bigger technical issues. Its just a judas goat. Until CCP find a way to accommodate war between the sov holding alliances - EvE is treading water and metaphorically gaining kilos of very unhealthy blubber.
Without genuine war and the will for it, there is no EvE really. War is the gear that drives this mmo and CCP don't seem to be able to facilitate spontaneous region wide conflict on a scale that would matter. Given the sov changes and the economic exploitation of claimed space buffery, why would anyone want to fight when the billions are pouring in left right and center? Its not in anyone's interest to risk everything for a few extra billions is it? That is a major problem.
EvE needs a barbarian horde. I thought Sansha was it. Now it seems although I was wrong.
Introducing more and more new features as tawdry distractions from the technical reality is like keynesian stimulus etc. The core issues and the core problems remain unsolved and largely, it would seem, unsolvable for the foreseeable future.
