Yeah...after downtime begins is really not acceptable. I'm sitting here trying to get online before a war target does, to prevent him escaping...
So the one time I actually need to get back in asap, there's a no-notice extended DT with not even a message on the login screen about it? Every minute the server is down right now, my stress level goes up exponentially...

My apologies for the short notice.
In any case, deployment is proceeding according to schedule, and the server is now in testing mode.

because doing that would be the biggest PR nightmare they could make when Eve is down all over Xmas whilst they try to bugfix it.

Edited by: Johnny Blackrock on 20/12/2010 11:51:13 Some people are way to anal about this game. Who cares about 30 mins extended downtime? CCP is doing their best; people should complain less and give praise more often tbh. Ever considered they're doing this because they want the game to be top notch? It's like getting all angry at the bank because they want to see your ID before withdrawing cash. Makes no sense at all.

Its not the DT thats the problem, its the 'oh sh*t we appear to have forgot to tell the customers again whats happening', mentality that they have that sux.

Sudden unexpected downtime just before IT risks losing a station.
It would sure be convenient if we didn't have time to form up.

Please explain to me how this is different from what your enemy is also experiencing?

They can use their infrastructure (bridges and beacons) to form up faster than we can. Of course, if we had a regular downtime we would have 30 minutes more to get ready before the ihub comes out.

As long as you keep the extended downtimes as short as possible (i.e. +30 min extra) am I happy. Just no more 12h-24h downtimes as in the past, please. The holidays are coming and every minute spend with EVE makes it a Happy Christmas! --

As in they can use the 30 mins of extra DT to call in their people? Good point if so. I stand corrected.

Defenders can form up quickly and get to contended system with short notice. Attacking forces need time to form first before moving out.
The later the server come up, the lower the chance of the attackers being able to get into the system before their SBUs get melted.
