What salvage pieces are actually usable for making rigs? I have been saving up my salvage for over a year and am now going to use it to make some rigs for myself and to sell but I am seeing just the same 4-5 ingredients on everything I try to make? What is all this other stuff good for then?
And btw yes I looked and could not find an answer before posting this.

There are a few pieces that have next to zero use; there are some that actually have some use, but the rigs they are used for are themselves rather uselessà
àand then there are the bits that have any kind of market value. And therein lies the easiest way to answer your question: look at what any particular piece of salvage sells for. If it's any useful amount, it's because it's used in popular rigs; if it's not, the salvage (or the resulting rigs) have no use. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

This site above may be of help. All rigs consist of three salvage components. Two are fairly common and cheap to buy, one is always expensive and rarer.
I've always kept my salvage and make all my rigs, gives you a lot of flexibility in experimenting with different rig setups without breaking the bank.
Rig BP's (that is, T1 rigs)are available in the NPC market, and because small and medium rigs use so little salvage compared to large rigs, they really don't need to be researched. (Research would enable you to manufacture them with slightly fewer components).
Some rigs are wildly popular (Capacitor Control Circuit, Cargohold Optimization, Core Defense Field Purger) while others are rarely used except for special fits requiring specific capabilities.
If your mfr/science alt is skilled, you can mfr your own rigs and enjoy your loot. Otherwise, check the markets and unload them if they're burning a hole in your pocket.
T2 rigs are very rare as the blueprints are only available as loot from plexes or radar or mag sites, and T2 salvage is only available from T2 wrecks or fancy faction wrecks. T2 salvage is on the market, you might check to see what the prices are, and will find them very expensive.

Well, the much-reviled Metal Scraps are used for refining.
I imagine that many of the other low-value components, if they are not used to manufacture any type of rig, are also used for refining.

All salvage is used in some sort of rig (except metal scraps IIRC). In general all rigs of the same class share roughly the same material requirements (there are a few exceptions).

check this link -gives salvage requirements for large rigs --medium and small rigs use the same stuff ---just less http://eve.podzone.net/wsdb/?op=rig_builder&ml=1

Nope. Salvage components (except for metal scraps) don't refine.

Only two types of salvage can be reprocessed further into tritanium: Metal scraps and reinforced metal scraps.
Everything else is used for building stuff, mostly Rigs.

You can invent t2 rig bpcs just like any other. Also they do not come from Radar sites or plexes, only Mag sites, and only size Large t2 rig bpcs.

Salvage to build rigs is a complete and utter waste of time. Move along. Don't bother. Just contract all that useless, worthless crap to me and I'll dispose of it for you.
No money to be made in creating rigs from salvage whatsoever.

You can invent T2 rig BPC's, but (especially) the large rigs aren't worth invention because they always end up with cruddy negative ME. For example, the horrendously expensive Tech II Large Trimarks. These need Intact Armour Plates which cost upwards of 70 mill each, so the only way to make them cost effectively is from bpc's found in nullsec mag sites which have an ME of zero.
Also, iirc, T2 salvage can be found in nullsec drone region complexes such as the escalation from Radiance. Mag sites and t2 wrecks aren't the only source :)
