I'd like to offer up some feedback on this new addition. When you guys introduced weapon grouping any half-arsed player realizes that this is great for pvp. One click to just reload the whole group with a new ammotype incase this is needed. Simply awesome. However the visual appeal of Eve Online dropped down a notch, for an example a raven is not spewing out tons of sexy torpness anymore, it's just a blob.
What I propose is either a mappable shortcut to group/ungroup weapons or the ability to right click a module and reload all with blahblah.

So... you want what is already there?
The group button changes state when you click it. Clicking it when the weapons are grouped splits them apart. And right-clicking grouped weapons has always allowed you to change ammo types... or maybe I misunderstand?

I don't really get his proposal either. But I do agree that the visual aspect of ungrouped weapons can be much more appealing in certain instances. There should be an option for grouped weapons that fires each item in the group at a slight delay in order to preserve the badassness. I don't see it happening, but that'd be pretty sweet.

I've wanted this for a long, long time. Especially with railguns and artillery, which sound much better with firing one after the other. Main reason I like machineguns is because of the pew pew pew.

well the main reason ccp introduced weapon grouping is because it takes a lot of load from the server if it only has to process one shot with eight times the damage rather then 8 shots especially with the lagg causing missiles, weapon grouping takes a lot of load of the server

Just trigger a single volley as normal, but also send a binary flag that determines whether to display it as a volley or series of shots. The setting could be stored server-side so your client only needs to send the flag when you change the setting. Just send that 1bit flag to the other players when you fire a weapon group, and their client displays the appropriate visuals.

There is a very easy (albeit sloppy) fix for this; make the weapon cycling effects a tad bit randomized. Only the visual effects - grouped weapons will still do damage and cycle just liked they used to, but the visual effect will have a small randomized timer. Could be scaled (up to a max) with total cycle time of the weapons group maby? Or make them fire in a kind of a 'flurry', one module at a time in a continuous barrage (time between shots would be weapon cycle time divided by number of modules).
I guess it could present a problem with the missiles though since it actually has to spawn a physical entity that is the missile. And also the visual/damage coordination might get worse (damage dealt in one go even if all the weapons haven't been fired yet/was fired a long time ago)- as if the lag wasn't enough.

I can see how it might seem like that but in fact it's not there. There's currently no ability to right click one module and reload all of them without being grouped (losing the visual awesomeness). Sure you can group them, reload and group them again but this requires more steps to do said thing. It simply takes a bit too much time.
Effectively CCP already provided a way to ungroup/group easily and achieve this so I doubt the performance aspect is such a big deal or I doubt they'd do it, I'm simply suggesting simplifying it a bit more.

There is a proposal in AH about this kind of graphical downer (it's just client side f/x stuff that would need to be changed), you might want to support:
[Proposal] Improve the Missile Graphic and Potentially Reduce Lag
