Well, I know I took my time, but I hope you can excuse that.
I didn't actually think I'd finish until christmas, but apparently, I did, with only minor stuff I had to leave out from my plans.

Patch notes
Usually stuff applies, just unrar it to a folder that seems fit for you, start EveTrader.Wpf.exe and off you go. If you used it before, a converter dialog will appear so you can convert the old data. If this shouldn't work for you, contact me ingame and I'll have a look at the xml and/or do the conversion myself.
After that you should be able to use it of the bat, maybe a restart of the application is required, though. First thing you should do is adjust the price source under the settings. Currently, the names are the internal names, but I guess the metrics source is findable. I'd advise you to use the Simulated method at it is, at most times, really accurate.

You didn't download the appropiate version for your OS. x86 is for 32 bit windows, x64 is for 64bit windows.

there is progress, now it opens app window with some weird blue progress bar that is full and something written under it, and "convert" button under it
+ even after you turn off the application you are still left with some stupid WPFFONTcacheblablav0400.eve process running ...

Loaded and runs producing screens, can import characters but other tabs or buttons seem to do nothing.
It also mentions eve metrics (presumably for prices), you do realise that is closing in January and has already stopped accepting data updates.

Femaref I don't have time to test the app yet, but I want to thank you for your continued effort.
As for the others, this is a rewrite of the app so of course you needed to backup data before trying the upgrade. Just the mention of "SQLite" means a deep refactoring has been made.
If the new app is worse than the old, keep using the old or make one better yourself to make pay for the same price of zero ISK.

it didnt pull API data from older evetrader install, but someho managed to lupp char name and name of the corp i was one month ago in?, didnt pull any wallet data from it
... and it eats all my CPU cycles on all cores while on settings screen WTF :)
.. best of all it didnt do a backup, lost all my data, nice
started again with some older smaller backup and made it kinda work, this time it converted successfully (?) but keeps insisting its 1 of November.
lost of functionality - normal evetrader has "filter by" in wallet log
normal evetrader while updating takes 50% of cpu (2 cores cpu), this one takes 100% cpu, hardly an upgrade :)
normal evetrader only chokes on update, scrolling the list is smooth, this one when scrolling horizontally updates screen below 1 per second (2 cores 4GHz cpu).
readibility lost with those new fancy bars and vertical scroll bar, + I much more preferred fonts getting smaller when list was bigger
All in all there was nothing wrong with old evetrader apart from getting an error after updating API data, restart fixed it. Could we get that one glitch fixed instead of this WPFWTF edition? :)

* the last date in the database is used as the last date in the dashboard, you need to update to get new data
* concerning the filtering: this is on top of my list. I had to make a choice when I should release it, and something wouldn't have fit or wasn't refined, it's the wallet analysis now.
* to the cpu "issue": does it hinder other tasks? I don't think so - 100% cpu isn't bad for the cpu in any way
* I had to make a decision concerning the graphs - considering the use of the old charting controls was not really legal
Would you be so kind and provide the whole log you get for that exception you posted? the small snippet isn't quite enough to make out where it happened.

Tried running it again, I pressed the convert button the first time and it crashed. Second time I just entered the api details and while it was processing something it crashed. Now when I run it I get "EveTrader.Wpf has a encountered a problem and needs to close." error, with a "1 of 5 days processed." bar frozen in the main window. Yes, it made a backup of my last one month old backup :), not the actual database, it deleted/overwrote actual database (!?!?)

Old evetrader was pulling CPU only when updating, this one does it randomly for no reason. Its unreasonable. Why does it do that? Its 2010, 2 cores at 4GHz. Dont tell me you need that processing power :). Something is broken. Vertical scrolling is also pulling 100% from both cores for ONE second just to scroll vertically.

Yes, I can understand, I remember "trial something" watermarks. Still it looked a lot better :(

Worst thing is I cant make the old evetrader work again for me now :( Both laptop and virtual machine behave same way now - EVETrader just throws up on me when trying to register API (1.2.3 and 1.2.4). Im gonna try on a fresh virtual machine later.

Hm, that log shouldn't really hinder anything. I'll have a look into it.
concerning the backup: settings.xml IS the database of any version prior to 1.2.5.

Not really. The debug information is generated from my compile and thus the paths are like that, it has nothing to do with the software itself.
I'll get out a new version later the day.

Thanks, something positive for once :-). Well, nothing specific, only thing I'd like to have is any log of the application chrashing or any non-normal behaviour. Usually, there will be a an exception log in My Documents\EveTrader, which would really help.

No, sadly, it doesn't. However, the last version didn't really account for it either (it was a mess) so I decided to leave it out and will take care of it now, as I now have the infrastructure to effectivly calculate it.

Just had a couple requests. Any way to filter the dashboard? Mine shows all my corp wallet divisions and the character I am monitoring, so there are 8 different things at the bottom and I really just want the one, maybe a toggle/checkboxes for which info you want at the moment. Also, the numbers on the right hand side of the dashboard, the "Investment - Sales - Profit" spot, the numbers end up mashed up where you can't read them on my client.

Good call, that worked out. Pretty sure above me guy is wondering same thing, will this version track my item movement to help me figure out what is selling best? So far for me, the Reports page hasn't loaded any information for any of the 4 tabs found within.

Yes, I tried alternating between the corp acct and the personal acct, and then tried a few times with both and none selected. Flipped between all the tabs (Items, Stations, Buyers, Wallet Histories) and no results. For reference, I am using the dates 12/25/10-12/31/10 with both apply start and end date filters checked.

Probably me being thick, but on a fresh install I can't see where to add the API keys anymore - there is an option to Update API Key (as well as Eve Static, and Regen Price). On the Main->Settings there is only the price lookup settings.

You mean 39 (or in #1 as well, added the link. this will fix will be included in the next version of course, I accidently removed a file from the project which consequently didn't get compiled into it).

Seems to be a problem with caching then - because I did get the old version from link as well in firefox, but in IE I got the new one. (old = 72kb, new 81kb). Anyway, the new rar should fix it for anybody else.

Any way to make clicking on a days profit or investment dot show filtered results from most profitable to least. It seems like all the bar graphs are randomly assorted.

You are right, I will fix this.
Mhel: I'm working on that as well. However, if there is no settings.xml in %appdata%\EveTrader, it should work.

This App is really great and I've been using it daily. Thanks a ton for writing this.
I have a question regarding the "Sales" and "Profit" calculations on the dashboard. Right now, my sales and profit numbers are the same, but that doesn't make sense because I'm not obtaining these items for free. For example, I have 20,000,000 ISK in sales on a particular day. When I mouse over the vertical bar for that day I see 20,000,000 for sales and when I mouse over the "profit" line graph I see 20,000,000 as well. This leads me to believe that I have either set this up incorrectly, or the application isn't calculating profit on my items correctly. I have two different characters that are being tracked: a buyer of goods and a seller. Is it having issues calculating profit because the purchases and sales weren't done on the same character?
I also have a feature enhancement request. It would be very useful (to me, at least) if the MarketOrders tab could be filtered by date. I have some very old orders, now expired or fulfilled, that are always listed.
Lastly, I have two "bug reports" for you. Whenever I update my API data, the amounts on the Wallets tab don't seem to update until I close and reopen the app. The other issue I'm currently having is that I now have corporation wallets listed even though I don't have rights to actually access those wallets in-game. Is there a way to make it so that the corporation wallets only show on request?

a) please select the eve central price source in the settings menu, the median setting should mitigate the problem somewhat
b) yes, I am aware of that
c) not at the moment, but I have that on my mind as well.
Currently working on cleaning up some code and improving the handling of some things (like the Market orders, problem there is microsoft's inability to code properly though, the reason why it takes so long to load is the grouping by station, so I'll probably remove that until I find a solution).

I would suggest that next time the "programmer" does some testing by himself instead of putting a homebrew .net out to the public which clearly doesn't work. A suggestion for you might be to run a few virtual environments with different **** on it so you can play around with your brew. :) Als, where are the sources... i'm sure you are a trustworthy guys and all but i'd suggest nobody runs any app that sends out personal info without knowing the code or the legitimacy of it.

Nope, at least not at the moment. While it would be possible even with using .net (running on mono), I don't have the hardware to test it and the time to reimplement the necessary changes.

@Dawn: all the bugs that appeared (bar one) where edge cases that you can't possibly think of, even with sandboxing. Anyway, thanks for the hate mail, appreciate it.

I have been using EveTrader for years and was so glad to see someone picked it up. Unfortunately I am having trouble getting it to run. When I run the app, it crashes. I have included the error log. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I have been using EveTrader for about 2 months now without any trouble, but I'm experiencing the following problem which is causing the EveTrader client to crash immediately after opening:

Just before the problems started, I opened EveTrader and updated the data from the API. I normally close and reopen the client afterwards so that the values that appear on the Wallet tab get updated to the new values. Upon reopening the client, EveTrader immediately crashes and the above error is logged.
I can start the client if I remove the EveTrader.db file from the AppData folder, but then I lose all my history (which, while not a complete disaster, is not very desirable). Any ideas what might be wrong and how to resolve it?

Somebody else had that problem as well. Two different IDs point to the same entity. It's probably due to some left behind character/corp and now two names interfere. Feel free to contact me ingame, will be online later.

I am getting the same issue now - "Evetrader has stopped working". On several separated mashines. Will try to reinstall...
Did, both x64 x86 fails on clean install with same failure. Probably my problem isolated then.
