New Ownership

Have this idea for a corp and a service, and wondering if it's worth anything to the MD crowd. Was planning to do this myself, but have too much fun blowing stuff up on other accounts, so I'm never getting around to doing it.
The idea is the corp "New Ownership", which I have created. What it would do is give characters a place when they're selling a character. By joining New Ownership ever so briefly, you'll have a log in your corp history stating that ownership of the character has changed. This can be useful for people, who don't want to be associated with future actions of their characters.
Price for the service would be 10m isk per application. This way the service generates money in a simple manner, apply and send 10m to the corp and you're in, and free to leave at any time.
Now what I'm asking is:
1) Do you think there is a need for such a service. 2) Could anyone partner up with me for running said service. I'm looking for people with a known history of providing player services. 3) Or would anyone be willing to buy said corp, and perform the services themselves?

Out of interst, how would you prevent people from joining the Corp that weren't then going to sell their characters?
Unless the membership of the corporation is strictly limited to those characters who were then sold then anyone interested in the past of one of these characters would have to trawl through the character bazaar, which is what they have to do currently.

I would say that in order for this to be effective and not abused CCP would have to move the Character transfer delay to 24hours instead of 10 and during that time the character would be enrolled in the "notification corp" if you will.
This is all assuming CCP has control over the corp.

This really seems more like something for CCP to take care of. If you're going to offer it as a private service, the only way you can deter people from abusing it is to require that they give you a deposit (which they don't get back unless they're out of the corp within x days). --- 34.4:1 mineral compression |

I don't think this can be a success because "visibly" marking the character as "used character" lowers its value which most of the time is not the seller's goal.

Link to Bazaar thread, buyer confirmation. This can obviously be faked with an alt, but so could any character sale. Since CCP hasn't bothered to include a "This character traded hands" stamp it seems like a good idea, at least if it grows to the point where "New Ownership" is actually a well known name.

Wouldn't this make more sense to do from the buyer's end not the seller's? As in, once the character is bought and in control of the new owner, the new owner would pay the 10mil ISK fee to join the "New Ownership" corp with the new char, since he is the one who would potentially not want to be associated with the actions of the char under the previous owner. If a restaurant is sold, it's the new owner that puts up the "Under new management" sign, after all.
Or maybe this is the way you are proposing it, and I'm misunderstanding something.
As for avoiding fraud - it's pretty simple for the applicant to link to the Bazaar for proof. ---------------------------------------------- I don't have an alt, but there's a main that would be upset if he heard me say that... |
