Some of you might remember that a while back I tried to make a site with information about all the various alliances. The idea worked after a fashion but I kept getting behind the 8-ball with school, work, and playing EVE.
Thus I am tentativly trying out a Wiki of information of all the Alliances. I put in information from my old site and am updating and putting them into the formatting used by the engine.
For those who dont know a Wiki is a database of information that can be edited by any (in this case registered) user. The concept is that if I dont know something, someone else does and can add to the information.
The idea is to allow newer players and those who dont live in 0.0 to get information about the various organizations that shape the gameplay.
Alliance-Wiki
Some of the info is stale, but I'm updating as I get more.

I can always slap with the ban-stick if things get hairy, part of the reason I'm requiring registration.
Also, its set to hold previous versions of the page, so I can do a roll-back if needed.

Its a old mis-spelling from the alliance db template that i never noticed
the FIX info was pretty much a cut and paste, and i never got around to fixing every occurance of it.

Lemme poke Zap to write out a history of m0o or something for this.
BTW, its "m0o" not "mOo". The first "o" is a zero. Correct name would be "m0o Corp"

I put m0o up there seeing as I can't think of a single corp not in a alliance that deserves to be put up there more then them.

That's the idea of wiki. Might prove a problem here although I'm still slightly hopeful despite some smack that's already come up on FOE's description.

It takes half a minute to load a page with only text.
Changing a subsections takes two minutes.
I am sorry to say this but the Wiki is incredible slow, close to uselessness.

you may see it as smack, but its true. a bit hypocritical after what ive read on forums from members of BoB.
GL with the wiki though, its a good idea, just open to abuse though, as long as u keep the admin work up it will be cool ;)

I wouldn't call it useless but the site is indeed horribly slow. Editing can be a pain in the ass...

Blame it on me for getting a cheap server. Running two EVE accounts, one WoW account and College. Transfering over now I would want to avoid for two reasons.
A) I dont want to be reliant on the charity of a third party.
B) Transfering the MYSQL DB over would be a royal pain in the ass.
Its also PARTIALLY the wiki. Think of it similar to editing a post you made in a forum. Notice how in most places it takes a while to load even on the fastest of servers.
Same basic idea.
I was also forced to use a development snapshot because of template problems for the stable on my server.
On another note
Remember folks, Neutral Point of View if you contribute.
Things like "Xetic beat CA" (my sources strongly indicate internal dissention as the cause of the fall, tbh) Are counter productive. Even if it is true, if it cant be backed up by a majority opinion (really majority) or by something hard, I woudlnt post it.
Youd be surprised at how easy it is if you just reread what you write.

if it were a general EVE Online wiki, i'd contribute to it. Right now it is only of limited usefulness as its scope really does not utilize the true capabilities of MediaWiki.

Great idea... but slightly biased perhaps..... tbh some of the descriptions of FIX are way off mark...I see the opportunity to edit the descriptions .... Is this so?

I made some updates to the FIX profile Nez, verify and make your own edits or I can. I gotta run out for now (oh n0es! The forums are teh unmanned!) but will put some serious time into updating this when I get back.

Nice site. I updated the info on Huzzah Federation. Hopefully that will quash some of the wlder rumours that have been flying about.

I suppose I should post an update.
I bought the domain name eve-wiki.com and asked my hosting company to add it to my account. It takes a few days to process but when it goes through I'll pack up the alliance one and transfer over the database to the new one.

*Cough* I would but I'm a poor college student, so I can only fork out so much a month for a hosting service. Another reason is that I'm allowed to tack on additional domain names to my account without starting an additional account. If the whole thing takes off I'll splurge a faster host.
Also its partially the meidawiki program itsself, though the server DEFINETLY isnt helping any.
