I have missioned and mined all until now, I will be moving down to null...
I've shot down a few peeps before, but that was around the tutorial area lol...
What are some... say top tips for a pilot who has done nothing but missions and mining... and then some corp management and recruiting... I'll be ashamed if my latter corp mates see a horrible first pvp outcome!
I know how to ctrl+click though and then overview set up to PvP.. and then now wut..
I mostly will fly an ishkur-domi-mega-ishkur for pvp
Any tips? |

As this of your corp or alliance or whoever you're going to 0.0 with?
Small gangs have different requirements, and small gang ops are quite different from large scale warfare ops.
In general, though, you want to train for some gunnery-based ships for instant DPS (missiles and drones take too long to apply the DPS), and having T2 weapons for extra DPS punch is almost a requirement. Learn where the pipeline to Empire is, and where it's camped / bubbled and at what times. Always be quick to react to new people in local, watch the intel channels for advanced warnings of attacks/raids, and run your scanner / overview so you can report what ships intruders are flying.
A PVP outcome isn't horrible if you die. It's horrible if you cause others to die needlessly, so stay calm and if you're going to die, you'll die; don't ask to be rescued, don't whine or complain. Don't fly what you can't afford to lose 10 ships of.

The 12 step process to PvPing in EvE.
1) Check your overview. 2) Check local. 3) Listen to the FCs orders. 4) Warp to the XXX. 5) Stay calm. 6) Check your overview again. 7) Have you locked up and started shooting the primary target? 8) CHECK YOUR GODDAMN OVERVIEW!!! 9) Lock up the secondary and tertiary targets. 10) I SAID STAY CALM SOLIDER!!! CHECK YOUR ****ING OVERVIEW!!! 11) WHY WEREN'T YOUR WEAPONS FULLY LOADED BEFORE BATTLE YOU NOOB?!?!?!? 12) Well ****... you died. Let's check that killmail of your-- WTF IS THAT FIT?!? _______________________

Start small and cheap. You WILL lose ships while you learn the ropes. Get in a cookie cutter tackle Rifter and get used the PvP mindset and environment before you start messing around in battleships; I'd much rather have a competent fast tackler in my fleet than a clueless battleship, that's for sure

One thing I always recommend to people is get used to being in danger.
Spending some time living in low sec is great for that and cheap if you use a T1 frigate. You may get some fights and will learn from those. Just being in an area with red flashies and learning to stay alive helps.
Basically new pvpers tend to find ways to get themselves killed. Veterans find ways to stay alive.

As a new player to PVP who finally just got his first kill, I canÆt give you any ôproö tips, but I thought I could share the things that were important lessons for me. First off, you have to arrange your windows so that local is ALWAYS visable, you need to know who is around and check their profiles to see if you can glean any info from their bio, corp, etcà
1. Be sure to set up your overview for PVP, if youÆre not sure how, this guide is excellent: Linkage
2. LEARN HOW TO USE D-SCAN if you donÆt know how. This is an OK video: Linkage
3. Making good bookmarks is essential to stay safe and find your targets. This is a great E-Uni class that helped me a lot: Linkage
4. Get ready to die. YouÆll lose a bunch of ships, but itÆs not as expensive as you think. I lost 15 ships before I finally got a kill, my first fight I didnÆt even activate any of my modules. I just froze and watched myself blow up. When you know youÆre gonna lose and canÆt get away, select a moon from your GTFO tab and spam the warp out button û youÆll almost never lose your pod if you do this.
I usually roll solo, sounds like you will be in a fleet and IÆm really not knowledgeable about fleet ops yet so I canÆt help you with that. Also, I have no experience living in null sec, IÆm sure there are specific things that you need to be aware of (like bubbles) that you should investigate.
Good luck and Go Get Em'!!!

Edited by: Vajrabhairava on 01/01/2011 20:11:06 I realize it can be hard to get in to but ... take PVP-Basic from Agony Unleashed.
Also, train up for a rifter, buy a stack of 20 and go loose them all! By the time you're done you'll probably know quite a bit. |

I my self have newer been a fan of the rifter, i think its dps are to low to kill alot of the targets in 0.0.
I my self swear to the ishkur and i always buy 10 at a time (what i have room for in my iteron mk III)
My fit are:
Quote:
[Ishkur, solo] Damage Control II Energized Reactive Membrane II Small Armor Repairer II
Warp Scrambler II X5 Prototype I Engine Enervator 1MN Afterburner II
Light Ion Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S Light Ion Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S Light Ion Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S Small Diminishing Power System Drain I
Small Hybrid Burst Aerator I Small Hybrid Collision Accelerator I
Hobgoblin II x5 Hornet EC-300 x4
But thats not really that important, whats important are that you go out there and PVP. And the only way to get better at PVPing are to take the fight unless you know form experience that you cant win, even if you die (and you are going to die a lot) you will have learned something and maybe even had fun ;)
I have not got kills like this or this if had not been for my trying to kill all ships in sight, but i have lost my 200 ishkur

Now that I think about it, research your fit so you don't end up comedy-killmail. Its so indiginified.

Have to say. It was a good class. Learned quite a bit, although it may not be the tactics your corp employs the information does cross over.
and as said before.... check your local, check your d-scan, check your overview, check your local, d-scan, overview, local...

Typing F1 causes a weapon to fire. If you see somebody with numbers in their name, run. Aspirin can be used to mitigate the effects of a heart attack.
