Sigh....locked for bumping. -Abdalion
As the alarm sounded in my ear, I awoke with a start. I looked down at the book I had been studying before I had fallen asleep. ôWell, perhaps those gallente battleships can wait just a little bit longer.ö
As I looked around my cabin, I decided that it would need a cleaning sometime soon, so I made a note using the implant. Unfortunately, I had forgotten about the implant burn I had last night, when I had to deal with those pirates. As my head exploded into colors never seen by man, I groaned in pain. Well, time to get to work.
I walked towards the bridge, dropping by the med bay for some painkillers. Hopefully they will get me through the day.
I arrived on the bridge and keyed the pod open. My pulse beat faster. I have always loved the pod, the control and feel of being one with my ship. I was one of the first applicants for the training school and I had graduated to the top of my class.
Which makes it even more interesting as to how I got into the position I am in now. Right out of school, I had done well for myself, and quickly advanced to a faster, bigger, better ship. Then, with the help of a friend, I managed to get a corporation started up. It was going well, and we were working for a cruiser blueprint, so we could travel in style and safety. We were working a number of options, both heavy mining and manufacturing. This was before the pirates escalated their aggression, so we were doing quite well mining bistot. We also were making quite a bundle selling low level frigates to new graduates of the training school, and we were making quite a killing. We also had managed to recruit a few more members into our corporation, and all appeared to be going well.
Then my first bit of bad luck, or perhaps bad planning. I decided to take a vacation on a nearby planet, including a three week cruise where I would be out of contact with my corporation. I was not worried though, as everyone seemed to be well motivated and organized.
I went on the cruise and had a great time, even meeting a few very intriguing female pilots. When I finally took the shuttle up to the station and reconnecting my neural net, I was stunned. My corporation had been 9 members and there had been over 9 million in the wallet. When I got back, it was 2 members, with 33 thousand dollars left. Also, the only other remaining member, my friend who had helped me found the corporation in the first place, was experiencing a mid-life crisis at 21. He was unsure whether being a pilot was a good life for him and hadnÆt been on-station in over 5 days.
I went to the nearest communication station and did a galaxy wide search, wincing as the 2 thousand isk fee was taken from my account, which was looking smaller by the minute. It beeped in a few minutes, informing me that he was 10 systems away on an education planet. I called the number given, and he answered after a few rings. I have always hated that fake ringing sound all the communication systems use, and right now it was just agony.
Note: I will write some more later, when i get back from my trip. Please tell me what you think, and what I could improve.
