I played on the test server intending to fly a cap ship around but I did not have the skills does that mean I have to train the skill in tranqulity? Or did I install it incorrectly?

Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous that they don't allow full use of any ship by any character on the test server.
It's a "test" server for Gods sake, you would think that CCP would figure this out, but meh!

Your skills on TQ will carry over to SiSi every time CCP do a mirror. So your SiSi characters will have the same skills that your TQ characters had at the time of the last mirror (about 2 weeks ago IIRC).
If you want to fly cap ships on SiSi, you can just train towards them and it won't affect your true character on TQ; after each mirror is done they become completely divergent. Stick some +5s in your head and take part in some mass tests for the bonus SP to speed it up.

No-one's forcing you to use it, sugar ****.
Everyone would fly a titan, other capital, or faction fitted Machariel. Everyone who actually wants to test ships that they're realistically able to fly would be short-changed because they can't do anything without being wtfpwned by ships they would never have to actually fight on the real server. -------- Enemy corps raided into disbandment: Three.

It's not a test server for us. I would have thought the fact that it always has the next update on it would have shown you that... It's a test server for CCP to push new updates and see if the game crashes when more than the CCP development team is in one system or if there is bugs with the new features. The fact that everything is worth 100 isk is just because CCP decided to be nice, and if the market was player run the same as TQ, what would be the incentive to go on it and test features? (that and there is an average of 150 players, so the market would be basically empty)
