Hello all,
A friend of mine has been playing for ages so i thought I would have a go.
The problem is im having trouble finding things to do.
So far all im doing is logging in and activating a new research area in the hope that i might get a big enough ship to do something cool.
Now so far all my friends are doing is going to an astroid field and mining it..... what else does the game have to offer.... what are you all doing in the game that I can try out that might be fun?

You could have a look at doing agent missions, NPC rat hunting, trading. You might also consider joining a corp.

Mining is the most boring profession in game (probably the most profitable tho).
Id recommend running missions to start with, while doing them you will cover alot of different aspects of the game. You wont become rich over night by doing missions but the profits will gradually increase as your standings increase, when you get to the higher levels then you should be able to make a good income from them. The best thing about missions in my eyes tho is that you can go off and do other things (PVP, Trade etc) then come back to missions when your bored.

Have you tried afk mining? That's my favorite thing to do... In fact, it's pretty much ALL I do in this game.

Find a corp with a "flexible morrel standing", that will take you on. Pirating is fun, but near impossible on your own even for the most experianced players. EVE can be played alone, but its a hard slog of a game when you do... (witch suites some people im sure) When in a group of like minded people of varied experiance you will soon train what you need and gain the expeirance to become an effective tool in the corp. You can actualy develop a decent chara in about a month, the best thing about eve is your have to think about things... no necessarily how many skill points you have gained.

i also suggest wat robski said but beware dont just randomly go to a .4 system or less to join a corp that just randomly invited you.(some corps will let u drop ur stuff in the hanger then take yout out and pod you i suggest do some npc rat hunting first to get a feel for combat run some agent missions(to pick up some named loot), train up some ship, gunnery.... skills and start looking for a corp btw evemail @ Garishwinner
