Probably yes. And in a way the covert ops cloak is already a tech 3 item because you use a proto cloak to make a tech 2 cloak then use the tech 2 cloak to make a covert ops cloak, I think. I could be wrong but I think thats how it goes. |

Yeah, I'd also expect them to be 90% ice derivative too. Just a pet theory though.

I suspect so. current tech 2 is just an overhaul of tech 1 items, ships etc, slap on a bit of tech 2 parts and whala. I'd suspect tech 3 will be ground up built with tech 2 parts and mins etc rather then useing anything as a base component and adding to it.

I've heard no official statement of what will be required for Tech 3 items. It could quite well require T2 ones. It also might not. There really hasn't been any official word on this, so it could be something brand new which requires hunting up Jovian body parts for all we know
I have my own notions on what I think the tech 3 process should entail, but I'm still organizing some of my ideas into a more coherent step by step process flow (what I'm thinking about is a lot more complicated than just pop a print into a factory). I'll probably post my thoughts up in the Idea Lab before too much longer.

tech3 is Kali development (next one) and is branded items. One Uber Gun III and another same Uber Gun III will have different stats based on the skills/type of reseach the builder has done. The item will also have the builders name/corp as part of its name

exactly how it will work remains to be seen, there was talk about a maxium number of improvements per BPO and what yu improve is upto you. Items proberly start with base tech2 stats

I guess its tech2 item upgraded to tech3 maybe the new types of mining will have something to do with it (commets and gas clouds)

That would be very cool, to se like FA uber leet gun and SE OMGWTFPWN gun and a BoB ME4TEHW1N gun etc etc.
Mabey even individual corps, so say corp Y specalizes into refire (they know refire>damago mod) and they make loads of isk, while corp X make uber damage mod gun and sell only to nubs. (well you know nubs with sp)
Sounds cool would love to ce it and would add a new dimension to eve. --------------------------- new sig under construction |

Id expect a new mineral or two popping up soon. A new morphite lookalike that has special properties in certain circumstances.
If you look in itemdatabase at scan probe build requirements they include stronthium clathrates as a "fuel" component. I also think jumpdrives will probably be fueled by stronth...why else make all the good stronth ice be out in 0.0. Its a good idea I think to add ice products to build requirements for tech III. Eliminate normal minerals, build the stuff from industrial goods, tech II components and ice/morphite derivatives.

I personally think it is waaaay to early to even strat speculating about T3 when all T2 mods/ships etc are not even in the game yet.
If you look at the limited time most of these games last with a large enough playerbase and take in consideration the time it takes CCP to come forth wtih new contents, I have my doubts if we're ever going to see T3.
