Try some 250mm rails and heavy missiles (i think), havent flown a moa for a while. be careful tho i remeber mine liked to get warp scrambled easily. =============================================

High: 4 sm lasers, heavy launcher, stand. launcher Med: 2 Lrg shield extenders, named med. shield booster, webber low: PDU's, damage mods
This setup will leave you up close and personal, tanks damage well, pwns frigs/ceptors, and a high firing rate from the lasers.

Edited by: JoeSomebody on 20/01/2005 03:33:45 kotcheff there isnt much choice for high slots (4 250mms + 2 launchers), except the fitting of 2x heavy launchers or one heavy and one rocket, but that mostly depends on your skills, ie ammount of powergrid you can get on your ship.
For medium slots most ppl will not arge that there are 3 things you cant live without: 10mn AB, med shield booster and web. Fourth you can play with, but im almost positive you goin to end up with shield hardener - either passive thermal or active EM.... depending on the type of rats you going to fight.
For lows you will have to fit as many pdu/rcu as you need to have enought pg for above things (mostly rails). Rcu's are more effective at boosting pg, but if you can avoid them, then use pdus, as they also nicely boost your cap and shields. So you might end up with 1-2 rcu and 1-2 pdu, and if you still have one slot left, put a rail damage mod or a tracking enhancer there.
Anyway i have to warn you that Moa isnt good chioce for your first cruiser. Caracal is waaaaaayyyy more effective and cheaper for new player. So if you still got money left buy yourself a Caracal and leave Moa alone for a while, as you undoubtfuly will blow it up due to low skillpoints. ____ When flying by Concord Customs Commander's Dominix I distinctly heard him saying "... world domination..." |

Depending on your engineering and electronics skills, try the following:
Either: 4x250mm Scout Rails, 2xArbalest Heavies Or: 4x200mm Scout Rails, 2xHeavy Launchers
1x10mn AB, 1xMed Shield Booster (Preferable C5-L), 2xHardeners
3xPDU / PDU2, 1xMagnetic Stabiliser.

cmon read again, his -> first <- cruiser and u say he should fit a full Tech 2 setup ? he have prolly less total skill points then the guns need alone.

Being that this is your first cruiser then I guess you can't fit every setup that is mentioned above. Just think about defence first. You should definitly shield tank it would recommend med shield booster and 2x hardener depending on the rats you face. If you are doing missions for Caldari you'll mostly end up against Gurristas which means kinetic and thermal hardener but if you go against Amarr ships do NOT forget to change that kinetic hardener for EM as you are in a world of **** if you don't. Normally I would tell you to put a shield boost amplifier but if your cap skills aren't up to it then you better just fit a cap recharger.
Now you can start to think about offense. Usually when I have a tanked ship I like to go long range as I probably won't be going fast. So if you can fit 4x250mm rails and 2xheavy launcher that's great but if you can't I would probably change the heavies for assault or even one of the heavies for rocket with defenders.
In your low slots then you rather want to have pdu's instead of rcu's as the pdu's help your cap and shield quite a bit so don't be afraid to fill all your low slots with it.
This setups main weakness is that the 250mm wont hit well against small fast targets so you'll have to depend on your missiles and drones when those pesky rats get close. The way to combat this is to warp in at long range and don't just start targetting and firing away. What you need to do is to see which frigs approach you real fast and start hammering those with 250mm, if they are tough ones then fire the launchers to and as soon as you see that your guns aren't doing any damage stop shooting at the close range rats and start shooting at those fatther away the missiles and drones should be enough to finish those small rats.
ps. As a rule of thumb you should start on the small rats first, some of them can do a lot of damage but are weak and therefore easy to take down. __________ Capacitor research |

go with 250 mm rails and assault launchers. no need for heavy launchers, since 250mm guns are long range (lead = 45km optimal) and u will kill anything before heavy missiles will even get half way to target. so have assault/rocket launchers for those who DO get close by some wierd chance or for spamming defenders. on low slot have combination of PDUs and dmg mods (or tracking enhancers for range). med is shield tank :)
btw, that is a npc setup :D

Tech 2 shield boosters don't take much skill to get(Engineering 1 and Shield ops 4), neither do tech 2 cap rechargers(Engineering 2 Science 1 Energy grid upgrades 3). Granted he could go with a tech 2 medium booster on the Moa or even a regular named large to take advantage of the bonus. And I didnt say it required tech 2 guns, was just a suggestion. I guess I just won't mention any setup that goes outside of everyones pinewood box anymore.
