Drop 40 odd cargo containers by a gate, sit In a permatanking Rokh and run a Large smartbomb 2 while hapless pilots lag out and get popped while you take a dump, watch ****, do your school homework etc..
Then post kill mail and claim the glory.
I mean seriously, what's the point

Various things appeal to various players...
They get a lot of killmails
They potentially get a lot of iskies from loot drops
They enjoy making people cry
Who says they are afk anyway? You are wrong.
As for the cans lagging you out, landing in range of a smartbomb bs only happens when jumping OUT of system where can spam shouldn't make a difference if you live or die.

Afaik dropping "things" only to cause lag is illegal and might attract GM attention.

As it goes, I knew I was pushing my luck in that system. I've simply never encountered this tactic before. I was jumping out and the cans did lag me up, as it did to a few of my gang. Oddly, some got through. Probably the ones with the better connection.
Sure, maybe he wasn't afk, not sure what difference that makes. It still seemed like lag was being exploited. Hell, I might even try it myself.
And listen guys, not everybody who posts is a crybaby. Some of us are men.

Smartbombing (the non-afk variant, what you descirbe sounds like exploit with the container spam) is making the bomber tons of money.
You'd not believe what values people transport in shuttles thinking they are completely safe... om nom nom capital skillbooks etc.

He wouldnt be AFK though, what if a random sniping gang took up positions 100km off the gate. He would be boned if he was AFK.

Well, maybe I was quick to call 'AFK'. Although, in the system in question there was a very active gatecamp by his corp on the other gate, so this toon was safe from harm. Possibly an alt afk'ing the backdoor.
The gate WAS spammed with cans, that's for sure, and that did lag everyone up.
I've not encountered this tactic before. From someone who does L4's in a T1 cruiser for the craic this tactic just seems as dull as mining. Maybe he is a miner at heart but is to ashamed to admit it!
Marks for ingenuity, it just seems a lazy way to play the game.
Personally, I think that tactic is beneath me. But so what, horses for courses.

And while I'm thinking again about it, it's the fact that this toon thought his kill was worthy of a killboard that prompted my forum post. I'd have more self respect than that. But that's me.

Is "40 cans" made up on the spot or did you actually count? In any case, dropping more than 6 cans is a bannable offense. Someone asked gm how many cans they can drop to decloak cloakers without getting banned, that was the answer. Can't be bothered to find that post though.

As a hewge crybaby myself, I haf to call your bluff and point out the tears pooling towards the bottom of this thread.
SB Rokh kills frigs and usually pods, cans or no cans, spamming jump or not. The lag trying to jump was cause you where already toasted before you even hit jump your client hadnt caught up yet
