Mine, Refine, Trade, Rat, Bounty, Mission?
I'm only about a week old and I'm doing... ok, maybe go back to the drawing board?
I find mining to be ok as income if you combine it with missioning to ease some of the boredom. |

Mining can be OK nowadays(at the barge level). Try to grind to higher level of missions and train some of the Social skills to facilitate that.
You can hit the easy button and purchase a PLEX and sell it on the market. I used one PLEX to kickstart my higher level of EVE gameplay. I simply did not have the time or the drive to grind/carbaear to fund my PvP habit. I dont regret it.
You can learn some trading skills and do the whole buy low sell high thing.
I will refer you to the Eve Univeristy Wiki page. http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Main_Page It is not just for the corp, as you dig through it, it has a plethora of information |

I'd recommend station trading. It starts slow but your income should increase very rapidly with your capital. You could also try prowling around the Hisec static beacons, land marks and belts looking for faction spawns. When I was a few weeks old I found a Dread Guristas spawn at the Abandon Caldari Outpost in Urlen and snagged a DG Invulnerability Field that sold for ~400mil.
edit: Also ninja salvaging sites is a great way to make money if you don't mind being called mean things by the mission bears. Hows my driving? Call 1-800-747-7633 to leave feedback. |

Carebear... because not buying PLEX... ok, whatever.
Yea, on topic: Do the intro missions/storyline missions that are presented to you... good income and good to get ships/skills easily. Then mine/mission... maybe find some other new players and join up with them... or a small corp...
Ahm, yea, and I'd stay away from scamming, you can seriously damage your rep with stuff like that... "I wish to have no Connection with any Ship that does not Sail fast for I intend to go in harm's way."

Exploration, exploration, exploration.
Train your chosen race's frigate level to at least 4, train the appropriate scanning skills (Rangefinding to 4, Pinpointing to 4, Acquisition to 3 or 4), train any other supports you may need (Drones/Salvaging/Hacking/Archaeology). Within 1 week you will be more than capable of running Highsec Radar and Magnetometric sites which can net upwards of 50mil ISK PER site (moreso for Radar than Mag sites).
Not only will you become fabulously space-rich, you'll hone your always crucial scanning/probing skills and you'll be well on your way toward one of the most lucrative and certainly the most entertaining and adventurous careers in EVE. Next stop, wormholes! |

Working the market is one of the hardest things to pull off... even if PvP cracks may think otherwise ... you have to have the relevant marketing skills AND have to monitor the prices for quite some time to find profitable routes... What do you find boring about it and what sorts of things would make the Eve PVE experience more enjoyable for you, as a new player? If you could change one thing about eve's PVE for new players, what would it be? |

Ask your corp mates if you can tag along on their lvl 4 missions. They should coach you on what to fly, skill and fit. They might even share mission rewards with you. You'll get more standings and isk. As well as get a good boost towards doing them on your own when you are ready. |

for now grabbing a Merlin or Incursus and capturing Major plexes is probably by far the best income a completely new player can hope to earn in this game. I'm a NPC corp alt, any argument I make is invalid. |

Missions are your best start. Do the sisters of eve epic arc. That will net you 9 million or so.
Level 2 missions in minmatar space against Angel cartel give the best salvage. Should net you 300-400k per mission. Convert your OP into faction ammo and sell on the market for a profit. |

Personally, I'd say get into a Salvager (the module) as soon as possible. You can make good change beyond bounties and mission rewards with that. Pop some rats, fly around salvaging in belts for people (don't steal their loot unless you ask first), and run some L1/L2 missions if you want to. It's all ISK just sitting there ready to be made.
Also get into Radar/Magneto sites (exploration); you can get the basic gear to start there from the Exploration tutorial missions, then train up all four of the Astrometrics skills. Good isk there, too.
Next, get into PI if you have the money. Coolant is a nice item that only requires a couple P1's and is nice change.
Hope this helps. |

the way it works is that you fit a Merlin like this:
[Merlin, Merlin] 'Stoic' Core Equalizer I 'Stoic' Core Equalizer I 'Stoic' Core Equalizer I
Small Shield Booster II 1MN Afterburner II Kinetic Deflection Amplifier II Thermic Dissipation Amplifier II
Prototype Cloaking Device I
Small Capacitor Control Circuit I Small Capacitor Control Circuit I
(fitting doesn't have to be all T2 to work and you can leave out the cloaking device if you want to)
... and then look for Major complexes of the opposing faction in systems that are vulnerable.
Enter the complex and orbit the structure at its center for 15 minutes at < 20km - with your Afterburner active you should barely take any hits and you don't have to kill anything, you just have to stay alive. If a hostile player arrives, just warp out and wait for him to go away before continuing.
Once the countdown reaches zero, you'll get some LP which you are going to cash out once your faction reaches tier4 or 5.
It's mind numbingly boring but it's probably the best income you can get at this point other than scamming/theft, I'm a NPC corp alt, any argument I make is invalid. |

For a highsec newbie straight off the bat: Train probing/salvaging skills and ninja salvage in a L4 missioning hotspot. You'll make around 5-10m an hour, which isn't bad. You also get to hear the delicious cries of the people you're "robbing".
For a highsec newbie who's a month or two into the game: Be either in a drake or be close to hopping into one. Train the T2 heavy missiles and do L3 missions as previously mentioned. After this join a 0.0 corp that farms kinetic rats someplace and do anomalies, (specifically forsaken hubs) or do belts if you don't have the T2 heavy missiles. Train a tengu and then do forsaken hubs faster.
For a goon newbie in his first rifter (slasher now) and in his first fleet: Do nothing. Act like a newbie and be showered in isk by older players. Then do the previous two instructions while having infinitely more fun since you're in fleets/gangs almost every day. (Where you can loot delicious faction loot off your enemies! )
I'll admit I have no idea about mining/industry in general as a profession. Or any other professionfor that matter. Do what works for you. |

Darn wuzzies nowadays
When i started out, i mined in a frig.. i then mined enough money to buy me a Scythe cruiser, which i had a crazy bastadized fit on because i didnt have any skills (only weapon i could fit was a rocket launcher with like 5k range, some belt rats stayed outside of that so i had to chase them around...lol).
As i had a tiny cargohold and there was no station in system, i bought a few giant secure cans that i anchored around the belts, which i would regularly empty with my Hoarder.
This i did for 3 weeks...refined with my uber crappy skills, and earned around 100 mill (which to me was an unbelivable fortune at the time). Took me many months to get into an actual barge because of the metric ton of skills needed for it.
ahhh, the "good old days"....lol :) |
