Rooted recommendations: Custom Rom (of your choosing depending on phone) AdFree Set CPU Wireless Tether Titanium Back up (get the paid version, its worth it) <-- (dont need Apps2SD if you have titanium, you can do it form there) ----

I just bought the samsung intercept 2 days ago and sold my iphone.
So far so good.
Is the Dolphin browser the best overall to use? I'm using the stock browser and don't really have any complaints.
I'm waiting for the Froyo 2.2 update to come to my phone, the only thing I'm missing is being able to stream netflix on my phone. Pandora works great.
ALSO I've been looking into virtual keyboards to replace the stock virtual keyboard. I heard 1. better keyboard and 2. gingerbread are the best going? ----------------------------------- They see me trollin... |

Advanced Task Killer (is an absolute must on any smart phone)
Places (so you can always find somewhere to eat, drink etc)
Navigation (so you can find all those places to eat and drink)
Speed Test (so you can check your 3G speeds obviously)
I also use Flixster to check out movies and stuff.
All the above are free
This sig is unrelated to any relatives |

Aura is absolutely fantastic. It's free. Lets you check your EVE characters skill queues on multiple accounts and browse items.
Gameboid is really good if you like GBA games, about 2 bucks.
I also use Lookout because my stupid college wants an AV before I connect to their wireless. It also has a nifty feature that helps you find or lock the phone if it gets lost or stolen. |

Handcent SMS (best SMS application)
Winamp (for playing music)

My droid isnt rooted, no experience with setCPU and whatnot.
General essential stuffs: a decent task killer some file explorer (with smb support if you have wifi at home) JuiceDefender (data use etc scheduler for battery saving)
Practical (kinda essential): Aura Winamp or Mixzing (music) GPS status (nice app to display proper GPS info, as opposed to being integrated in some mappy thing) some QR code scanner some tether app (data connection for laptop) Rockplayer (divx etc player)
Usually packaged into branded ROM: Youtube Google Maps/Places/Navigate
Toys: stereo bluetooth headset seperate USB cable (seriously, these things run outta juice fast, 3 days at best on mine)

Barcode Scanner- use ZXing's free does what it needs to makes using QR codes easy
K-9 Mail- POP3 mail client fast and easy to use
Advanced Task Killer- free or pay, free has ads but works just as well
Still looking for a keyboard replacement not happy with the default one.

Most players dont support the common codecs, Rockplayer is an example I mentioned above is able. You might need a decent processor tho, any android device with a snapdragon or similar will run all but serious HD files fine.

Just got rock player. I'm suitably impressed.
But do you know how to get it to display subtitles? Watching some anime on an MKV file. Sound and picture quality is excellent, but I don't speak Japanese. and further more why do i even need a sig? |

ANGRY BIRDS. That is the only app you will ever need. Kies air is pretty good for management of a few files over wifi, other than that all the others have pretty much been said.

eh, angry bird is overrated.
I found a nice tower defence game on the market, but I have yet to find a really good game for my desire. While the touch screen is nice and all, it puts limits on gaming imo. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
