As I'm sure you all know after the learning sp rebate alot of items jumped substantially in price as people who weren't able to fly them before got the sp to fly them.
Now I've been training an Orca alt to act as a mobile exploration base, I've budgeted the Orca and fittings for under 400M, which is now more than a little unreasonable given that the cheapest Jita prices are hovering around 440M.
I have very little experience with market trends, so I ask you when do you expect increased production to bring Orca prices down to what they were before?

The same as with any other commodity; give it three or four months.

Between the new demand for Orcas, Rorquals, Carriers, Supercarriers, and PL losing 9 titans, I expect there to be a rather long drawn out arc of which we haven't seen it top out yet.
If miners get their **** together and acutally pick up shop with their orcas and move to were the trit orders are, it may be a shorter arc.

Are you planning on dumping or buying up a lot of Orca's?
If not, then price does not really matter, buy it if you got the isk. Anything else is just stupid as you should leave that stuff to those who make a living on market movements.

I agree completely, but the OP said ISK is tight. In such a situation, exploring all your options before committing to one makes sense.
In response to the original question - this is the new normal. There will be some more adjustment, I'm sure, but it will consist only of negligible corrections. You have to remember that the SP refund not only created a demand spike in mid-December, but also permanently expanded the pool of characters who can use these ships and so increased their long-term demand.

In the time it takes to speculate about something happening 3 months from now he could just look around other regions, wait with a buy order or even contact a "we've just started building caps" corp.

Titans lost in nullsec will increase demand for tritanium in nullsec... which will be filled by miners in nullsec. Thanks to Dominion there are endless supplies of all minerals in nullsec. The demand won't impact noticably on hisec markets.

You don't understand how this works do you?
Its more efficient to mine high ends or kill pirate rats in 0.0 than it is to mine veld. Instead you use the money made to buy trit in hi-sec where thousands of carebares are competing for the best price. To move it out to 0.0 you manufacture modules like Citadel Torpedos which compress the minerals, ship this to a station in 0.0 and then reprocess there.
Most low end minerals in 0.0 don't come from mining. Vote Illectro for CSM5! Supporting the New Generation of Eve Players |

Oh, of course. But given the fact that he's asking about it here, I assume that he thought it might normalize in a matter of days or weeks, and that to him making do without an Orca that long could be worth 100-150M.
