What do you guys think about adding a in game translator to eve chat ? Im happy to talk to those that speak other languages, but its so much hassel having to copy and paste everything said into an external translator, and my translator seems to struggle with russian alot.
Anyway I just wondered what your opinion on this would be.
Comments please

They already have. Just open the IGB and navigate to http://translate.google.com/#.

Online and offline translating programs suck badly... Believe me, I work as an interpreter and as far as I've seen, those things still need tons of work to do a good job.
Learn english - most eve players can speak it and write in it. If they can't, well, I can see tons of places where the CCP resources can go to not involving creating an in-game translator.

Make a special channel with a simple ransom demand in common languages then invite your victims there. ~

Let's see... As you say, the translation service you use isn't very good. We'll assume for now that it's Google Translate as that's the most common one, at least when you exclude commercial products (those aren't very good either, btw). So, this service that people who actually work with machine translation can't make very good, you'd like a bunch of game devs to crack? While you're at it, you may as well have them do on the fly translation, complete with text to voice.
Eeehm, what I meant was this: Your wish isn't very likely to come true.

One of the best features of this game is the incomprehensible russian that gets shouted at you. Its hilarious.
With the aid of ones own imagination, you can basically read anything into it. If you want tears, just pretend its tears. Or pretend they're admitting incest with their mothers. Its really a gold mine.
I simply don't understand why you'd care to know what they're actually saying? ---- I belong to Silent Ninja (Hopefully that should cover it). |

While waiting, set up a chat with Mibbit. They have a built in translator that I think use google translator. Haven't tried with any non Germanic languages though so I don't now how it handles grammar for Slavic languages and other.

I personally can't stand seeing all that Cyrillic rubbish being spammed in local. I can't wait for when CCP finally puts the Russians, Ukrainians etc.. on the Chinese server.

Easy for you in your internet browser, Google translator, or other services of an interpreter or a Web browser or a game, the game window. This concept is the message my mother tongue, Russian, Korean and English, and finally to verify that the first translation.
The above message summarizing the availability of browser-based translation services and their relevancy in this issue is originally written in Finnish. It has been translated into English by the Google Translator (for additional challenge, it was translated first into Russian and then into Korean before finally making the English translation).
